Jedi Jackdaw
Simon was running around the Tatooine market, hoping to throw off the people that were chasing him. The buzz of the market was quite helpful and allowed the smuggler to escape the initial ambush, but it seems as though these mercs were better than he originally thought. Simon had been getting his pay after a successful job and was about to leave the planet. However, someone from his past heard that he would be on Tatooine and order some surprisingly skilled mercenaries to hunt him down. If There were only two of them, Simon would be more optimistic about his odds. With three of them chasing him though, his optimism wasn't very high. All would be good as long as he got to his ship though, which wasn't too far. As soon as he believed that he shook the mercs off, he ran to his ship. Everything seemed good until he was knocked onto the hot sand as soon as his ship was within sight. Four. There was four of them, not three. One had kept his ship in sight just in case.
"I got him over here boys!"
The rest of the crew quickly came and surrounded him, leaving no way of escape.
"Any chance you guys can let me go fellas?"
Simon said this knowing full well what the answer was. These guys were here to kill him and he knew it. Two of the mercs grabbed Simon by his arms and pulled him up, getting him ready for his execution. One of the mercenaries stood in front of him, holding a blaster in front of his face.
"I don't know what you did smuggler, but our employer reaaally wants you dead. This is nothing personal."
The job of a smuggler was dangerous but Simon didn't think this would be his end. Here he was, a blaster in his face on the hot sands of Tatooine. Well, no point in thinking about it now. The smuggler closed his eyes awaiting his death, but it seemed like it was taking forever. Simon opened his and saw that the man holding the blaster in his face was......just standing there. It was as if he was stuck in place. Simon could hear the merc that was standing in the back walking towards their ally to check on them, and then heard a loud wack followed by the sound of the mercenaries body hitting the sand before he could get close to them. The mercenary on Simon's left turned to see what had happened, loosening the grip that they had on him. This gave Simon the opportunity to slip his arm out of the grip, grab the mercenary on his right's arm and sling him onto the sand. This had startled the other mercenary, which gave Simon the chance to disarm the last merc and knock him out. Simon turned to see the person that saved him, seeing that it was a young man armed with a metal staff. There wasn't anything special about the person in front of him at first glance. He was wearing ordinary clothes, had a brown headband on, and had a relief look on his face. Taking a closer look, Simon recognized the lightsaber at his side.
"i'm glad I decided to follow these guys that were after you. Things could have gone bad very fast. Not saying you couldn't of handled it of course! I just didn't want to take any chances."
Simon nodded and turned to the mercenary still stuck in place.
"No no. I would have been dead in the sand if you hadn't showed up. So uh, you're the one who froze this guy?"
The young man walked up next to Simon and crossed his arms, his staff held in place as he did so.
"Yeah. I used a technique called force stasis, dulling his senses and locking him in place. I was afraid that I couldn't reach him in time, but it seems like all that training wasn't for nothing. It'll wear off in a few minutes, but I hope to be gone before then."
Simon poked the frozen merc, smirking as he did so. The smuggler extended his hand to his newfound friend.
"Names Simon Geo. I owe you one. How about I buy you a drink? Or maybe there's something else I could do for you? Give me a request and i'll see what I can do for you friend."
The young man shook the smugglers hand and began to respond.
"Reggie Faayare. And you don't worry about it, I didn't help you for a reward. I'm just glad you're safe!"
Simon shook his head.
"Well I sure do I appreciate the help. What's a Jedi like you doing here? You are a Jedi, right? If you're not, then you have one valuable item on your belt."
Reggie began to chuckle at the older mans words.
"I am indeed a Jedi. I suppose it would be weird to have a lightsaber if I wasn't one. To answer your question though, I came here to check on my parents. I like to check on them every now and then just to see how they're faring. Now it seems like I may be here longer than expected though. It's times like these that I regret not learning how to pilot a ship. The traveling merchants I caught a ride with left me before I could finish my business here, so now I must find another ride back to Kashyyyk."
Simon found his opportunity to return the favor, putting his arm around the younger man.
"Well why didn't you say that! I have a ship right here, and you'll be glad to know that i'm quite a good pilot! I'll take you to Kashyyyk."
as if he wasn't taking no for an answer, Simon walked towards his ship and beckoned Reggie to do the same. Reggie was about to raise an objection but decided that this was exactly what he needed. The Padawan walked onto the ship and was ready to head back to Kashyyyk.
Little did the two know that their first encounter with one another would open up a new path for them both. This one time favor to bring the Jedi back to Kashyyyk turned into an agreement to work by his side and be his pilot. Neither Simon nor Reggie knew how it happened, but during their trip to the forest planet the two found that they had made a new friend. Simon saw that this jedi could use his help in the future and wanted to see where this new path led him.
