New Horizons

Not much had come out of the conclave on Coruscant, but Arisa was determined not to leave the planet without getting something done to help relieve the Silver Jedi in the Outer Rim. There had been hints of contingency plans, but the details of sensitive plans weren't something discussed in a public forum.

Right after the conclave had concluded, she had pulled Valae aside and asked to meet with her alone aboard her courier. Arisa was there now alone in the lounge, sipping on pumpkin spice latte as she waited for her friend to show up. The hot exotic beverage helped her with the butterflies in her stomach. While she felt more comfortable around Valae now that they had talked a bit, but she was still guilt-ridden as ever. She had dumped a lot on Valae, and so she hoped to start making amends beginning tonight.

Now that she was free of the council chambers, Valae could breathe a mighty sigh of relief. She liked to mingle just as much the next person, but sometimes it was just plain exhausting. This was once such instance. Rubbing her forehead, she looked ahead towards the landing pad, where Arisa’s courier was waiting. While the two were on speaking terms, things certainly seemed different now. However, Valae knew that they would be able to mend their friendship. It had been an encouraging sight to see Arisa present that the Conclave.

It made Valae realize just how much she missed the company of her friend.

Once she was aboard, she made her way to the lounge. Each step brought a tingle of nerves, would they be able pick things up where they left off? Pausing in the doorway, she made her presence known with a small wave. “Hey, there…” She started things off casually. Valae took in the delightful scent of Arisa’s caf drink, and poured one for herself. Wrapping her hands around the mug, she took a seat across from her friend.

“Mmm, whatever this is…” She nodded at the cup, “It’s good.”

Arisa felt Valae's familiar aura as she approached, so she would be right there waiting at the landing ramp to receive her. Valae, rather infamous for her ravenous appetite, wasted no time in helping herself to refreshments. She couldn't help but smirk then, reminiscing on better times between the pair. Thankfully, some things never changed.

"On Kiribi, the beverage is known as pumpkin spice latte. It's pretty popular there this time of year, but I've only just started drinking it. Addicting stuff!"

She motioned for Valae to take a seat with her at the booth next to the kitchenette, then enjoyed a few more sips in silence. The silence came not from a sense of awkwardness, but from a feeling of content simply being in the company of her best friend, having no urge to drone on with small talk to maintain engagement.

"Another Conclave where exactly feth all happened," Arisa complained as she broke her silence. "This is all new to you, but I should have known better than to expect anything different."

At every Conclave she had every personally attended or heard about, most Jedi seemed to come to each one offering little more than excuses about why they couldn't fulfill their duties and lend a hand to those in need. All the while, the Sith and Imperials swallowing up the galaxy all around them. It was maddening seeing such apathy on display.
