The New Imperial Maritime Division handles all of the aquatic assaults needed by the New Imperial Order, through that, they operate as a much more traditional sea based navy. They understand that their role within the NIO is mainly that of support, and allowing the rest of the military to do much more heavy lifting, though, under the recent reforms under a series of controversial figures in the admiralty, NIMD has begun to take a much more forward and headstrong stance to their role in the warmachine.

- Combat Function: The New Imperial Maritime Division, NIMD, is one of the foundational blocks of Imperial authority across the worlds subjugated underneath the New Order. Despite the fact that it’s name will be brought up little in the history books, within mention of grand victories or well planned maneuvers, it’s job is much more humble than that. The New Imperial Army, the infantrymen, can hold the ground, that much is true. The Astral Navy can hold the air and the void without cause for concern. But what of the depths of the seas? What of the raging storms that can shake planets to it’s very core? Well, that is where the Maritime division comes in. Generally, they work in close tandem with the Army, which they are a technical subbranch of, the Stormtrooper Corps, and the Imperial Navy in order to assure the deployment of not only NIMD power, but the entire logistical force of the NIO. If it wasn’t for NIMD, Imperial infantry would be forced to travel through the Navy from location to location, when in many times, that much resource investment simply isn’t possible. NIMD is the equivalent to the Imperial Navy as the Imperial Army is to the Stormtrooper Corps. You might be able to break a planet form orbit, maybe even force a surrender, but the odds of you holding that world without boots, and feet, on the ground? Nearly impossible.
However, with the growing nature of warfare, NIMD also finds itself being pushed into active fronts as part of the larger warforce. Squadrons of destroyers dropped into the sea from a Star Destroyer from low orbit, landing craft beaching on the shore and unleashing swarms of stormtroopers, Imperial Army, and Maritime personal against the enemy lines, and even down to shelling a city within eyesight from a nearby waterway. With warfare becoming more and more consuming, forgetting an entire field of it’s operations would be lacking in the modern age.
- RULER OF THE WAVES - NIMD is nearly unmatched with their ability to dish out naval warfare on a local scale. With new tech being adopted into their ranks, new tactics being developed, and further envelopment into the military overall, NIMD can easily dominate the waves of any planet that it's deployed to. This comes from a combination of monetary support from the NIO as a whole, the determination of the crews of her vessels, and the tactics employed by their members.
- THE HAPPY FOURTH WHEEL - As it stands, NIMD is looked on rather pleasantly from the other segments of the New Imperial Military, due to the Divisions determination to working with the whole of the army instead of playing favorites or attempting to put diversionary sentiment between them and other subfactions. While they operate in a very "middle-child" role, not getting nearly as much support as the Stormtrooper Corps, Imperial Army, or Astral Navy, but generally NIMD knows where it operates best and how it can best assist the other aspects of the NIO. Due to this reputation of positivity, NIMD Sailors generally have good reception by other members of the Imperial armed forces.
- MOVE CLOSER, I WANT TO HIT THEM WITH MY SWORD - The main issue that comes from being a seabound force. Outside of their specific areas of operation, from the immediate coastal lands of a continent to the far reaching seas, they are inept. It is possible, should support falter from any other portion of the military, NIMD would be easily devastated from any manner of method. Should the navy fail at clearing their patrol paths, a hostile airforce could simply pepper the boats from orbit. Captains and crew unable to do anything of worth to stop it from happening. Without proper support and guidance, NIMD is a group of sitting ducks.
- LAST TO FIGHT - Combat in the 6xx ABY universe is lightning quick, and whole planets can be broken down in weeks, days, if not even hours. That means that unless the situation absolutely demands it, the deployment of NIMD may not be worth the time and effort. At their heart, they are an occupational force at best, and whenever the scenario demands their deployment into an active combat zone, there's fair chance they may be mainly shelling coastal fortifications. The High Seas are lonely, and the time of adventure and seafaring is long past, and the remnants of hostile fleets that they do encounter have normally been pounded into dust by the Astral Navy. Many times, this can lead to sensations of pointlessness in the crews and command.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The New Imperial Maritime Division draws it’s main inspiration from the old Imperial Navy/Imperial Maritime Division, which operated as the aquatic arm of the Galactic Empire. This early iteration of the IMD is poorly documented, but from what is known, the IMD was involved in conflicts with the Wookies of Kashyyyk during the New Republic liberation of the planet, along with a battle against the Rebel Alliance at the Montrosa Islands of Reytha, under command of Darth Vader himself no less. Despite the seemingly lack of use, the Imperial Maritime Division became tradition between the various Imperial successor states, including the Krayt Empire and the Fel Empire.
The New Imperial Order itself, also, has barely tested their aquatic naval division. While they have been involved in minor deployments of troops during coastbased conflicts, NIMD simply has had little place in the wider Sith-New Imperial Conflicts, though, during Operation Kyber Dark, NIMD also found itself participating in the slaughter. With many vessels turning on their Sith commanders and staff, and when they refused to engage in the order, were quickly dispatched by loyalist fleets.
