New Lore Effects on Chaos Cannon

So I was just wondering to myself about how the new Star Wars movies and cannon content will impact the forums here at Chaos. Now I know that we are a massive AU timeline, but how much from the new movies will be considered apart of the timeline? I'm aware the OT is included, as far as I've seen in my years here at least, in the Chaos timeline so I was curios to see if Episodes 7-9 would be included as well.

I personally think it could open up some new possibilities, such as new planets and characters to write. Just my thought. Figured I'd see what everyone else also thought.

Get it, a Chaos Cannon?!

<_< Anyway, I doubt it will have any impact at all. People will be able to use elements from the new movies if they wish but they will not change our core story on the board.
We're far enough ahead (800 years) for the past to be the past. After all, things happened in 1215AD...but what effect is it now in specifics?

Holocrons, datacrons, and so on are really the only remaining records - and realistically we can decide there was a split in the timeline, which has happened here before (look at Mirrorverse), where an alternate timeline broke away from us. Some character transfers actually explain their characters being here that way.

I think the most the new canon will impact this community is, it could give us new avenues for future events. Storywise.

I think the biggest impact the movie will have on the forum isn't the story, though. I think regardless of the content, we'll experience a resurgence in new membership and activity that hasn't been experienced since the start of the prequels.

This site sits at the top of google for all people looking to role-play Star Wars. I look forward to seeing how a possible new resurgence in activity may impact the forum.

New energy will be injected into characters and Factions with the likes of the Resistance and First Order. Gives us something current to work on and take inspiration from than just the Empire and Rebels going back over 30 years to 'ROTJ'.

It'll be great to see new life breathed into things from new and old writers.

Can't really tell you till i've had a good look at it all :D

I am sure like Connor says it'll cause a spin off of various things and quite possibly impetus for the GA for example and the FO. Overall all roleplaying boards should see a boost in new members when the films hit as tef says, if they are a success of course. So get your masters ready jedi/sith orders, that's what usually happens :D new apprentices rolling in, with a hundred versions of the new sith lord from the fims.

I remember when the last 3 films hit, sw roleplaying exploded again. While its not near as quiet as it was back then, with all the media related to SW in circulation, 3 new films will undoubtedly create more fans (or critics or both :D)

As for the rest of the canon, (or tech for example) it is going to be down to the individual characters. I'll use it if fires up a muse, but there's a wealth of stuff already to pull from it not.
