New Thread Interest Check

So… I’m going to take a stab at another IC thread, this time with @LE-X1. It’ll involve his droid character and my Cathar character (@Cyrilla Ky’lik), who’s a Jedi-falling-towards-the-Dark-Side-but-not-quite-there-yet-we-will-see-Feth-this-is-so-cliché.

We haven’t figured out a story yet, but we figured we’d do a public invite thread. We want to keep the thread sorta-small so the individual characters won’t be drowned out, and while we want the thread to have a general story, we are open to a fairly free-flowing story too. The intent would be a character-driven thread with more emphasis on story than action.

Also, the speed of the thread would be moderate-to-slow, only because LE-X1 and I are both pretty bogged down with RL. But a few posts a week wouldn’t be unusual.

With that said, any takers? If so, please post a link to your bio, and/or any story/adventure suggestions you may have!

(I’ll post a link to Cyrilla’s bio when I get home and have access to something besides a smart phone.)

:)

I trust that your character is limited by security protocols and connectivity issues? Most droids in Star Wars aren't connected to the HoloNet wirelessly, so any hacking attempt would have to be a physical operation (and usually, reprogramming of that sort would also require the droid to be deactivated). There would also be firewalls, administrative access, that sort of thing (which a good hacker could naturally overcome, but I wonder whether your character would need to). Or does FRAME operate more like the popular conceptions of demon possession, only with computers?

I mean, even if all it takes for FRAME to overcome security protocols is to plug something in long enough for the data to be copied over, I would consider that an acceptable risk. But if the only thing separating my character from your total control is your whim, it seems a bit overpowered.

More like demon possession... I should add that to his description, really.

But it's a little harder for him if the 'body' he's taking over already has a mind in it. He might be able to take over some kinds of droids. He'd be able to take over most ship systems, too. They're less complex AI.

I thought FRAME was overpowered too. Like I'm sure banks are really secure in star wars. He was hacking money a minute ago. But if that's his character that's his character although restrictions should be noted. And his weaknesses could be bigger

The hacking thing was just me seeing how far I could go without being poked at for it. I'm actually not participating in that thread in question, anymore.

In actuality, I did a crappy job on FRAME's bio, and I should fix it. He's still pretty OP, but so are most of the assorted space wizards and crazy-ass fighters on the board... That's what they're there for.

Dude, don't stop in a thread because some criticises your character. Just correct it and go on :)

I like your character actually, just don't hack into peoples stuff without permission or that might be a problem. Other than that, you'll learn how make a decent bio some day. I learned in about 9 days lol. Just work at it and sorry for going off topic thread owner.

Nah, it was cause the writer didn't want to be owned by an AI. I needed a front man, so I was trying to buy her...

The problem wasn't the hacking, so much as the IC consequences for her character.

Blurgh. I'm not liking these back-to-back eleven hour days. Tomorrow better not be another.

So, any thoughts on what to do for story/thread? Lex and I were thinking about starting it at some cantina and then we could go on adventures. Too tired to think about specifics right now though, so I'm open to ideas.

Also, it appears, two, three people are interested?

If you're referring to Asemir, don't worry, he won't be in the thread. I'll be using my Cathar, Cyrilla. I just prefer not to post on her because the site's mobile app doesn't allow easy selection of characters.

In any case, Cyrilla's bio is here.

Would a mandalorian demolition expert, who loves blowing things up, be welcome?

Sure!

So, it looks like 5 people, for a total of 7, including Lex and me.

I was thinking to start this out in a standard/cliche cantina location. Or something of that sort. Lex, perhaps that holocron that was found in the old thread could act as a catalyst for adventure. Or something else, again, I'm very open to suggestions. Or let it develop organically.

Also, Lex and I were talking about a nominal posting order, with the purpose to keep the thread from going wayyy too fast for those of us with busy RL schedule, but also not to hinder a side conversation or side-event.

Thoughts on the above?
