Ok run down real quickl Maverick is on the brink of leaving the Jedi due to his obsession for knowledge on understanding force healing and healing in general. His left eye is failing and due to that it cost him an ally in battle, being prideful he doesn't like the weakness and is falling due to his anger, obsession and fear of his weakness.
