New "Walker" Idea

So I just bought a fancy new gun off of an auction here, and that combined with renewed interest in technology, I had a thunk.

A while ago, I created this thing dubbed "Super-Robot Super-Frame" (SRSF "Sir Surf"), which was intended to hold Repulsion Super-Shovels and Repulsion Super-Drills. First off, I plan on making Mark II versions of Super-Shovels and Super-Drills for improved dexterity at smaller sizes.

However, the SRSF was explicitly for non-military purposes, and solely for mining. Ultimately however, Triam is going to want to make a weapon out of everything. It's just what she does. Now I know that exoskeletons as an idea while occasionally accepted, are generally off-putting for judges, so just a bit of forewarning if you are one of those kinds of judges/people's holding that opinion.

What if I created a small walker, with a mounted SRR-01 Rifle (since it has been stated as not recommended for users of human/near-human sizes), and mounted Mark II R.S-Shovels/Drills (to be submitted)? In other words, it would be a walker with a gun intended to circumvent lightsabers, and the ability to "telekinetically" lift or pound objects.

They're off-putting because certain members watch this stuff like hawks, and will take advantage of the situation - yourself included, I'm sure. Exoskeletons are just a progression step towards Gundam Wings, because that's what some people want, and that is where the militarization of exoskeletons leads. I would aim more for Basilisk War Droids, but even then - be aware we may just deny the submission just to stop the inevitable from following suit. Because while Basilisks are C-level canon, the Factory Admin or I may look at the situation and say no simply because I know how the community will react. We have people who read almost every submission, looking for a one up, a way ahead of others, in terms of PvP. While understandable, it serves as a constant reminder that Staff needs to keep a tight grip on how far we really let things like exoskeletons and nanotechnology go.

I guarantee you if you were allowed to create 200 Gundam Wings purely for agricultural purposes, nobody would care. The minute you militarize them and we allow it - everyone will.

I strongly urge you to discuss your ideas with a Factory Judge privately before putting a lot of work into it. I am sure you would craft an exceptional submission, and I don't want anyone to put that much work into something when Staff is going to be forced to deny it because of the precedent for the community that its acceptance would set.

Without knowing exactly what you're doing - my only other recommendation is "the smaller, the better."

Really? Smaller? I would have guessed that miniaturizing a Walker would've been the bad thing, which is more along the lines of what I was going for. Nonetheless, I understand what you're saying. We don't need this to progress into huge mecha-robots, which is not what I'm going for haha.

If I decide to pursue it, which I'm not sure of yet, I'll find a Factory Judge and talk it over with them.

Thanks for the response as always!
