Newb Query Before Jumping In

1) What's the state of technology over eight centuries of advancement? Granted there was an arguable "dark age" reading the timeline, but even the real "dark" age still experienced significant technological advancement, just at a slower pace. How similar is stuff to the galaxy as of the immediate post ROTJ era? Have ships gotten more powerful such as the increase in reactor strength and ship tonnage from TOR to the enormous and far more powerful ships of ROTE? How odd is it to see centuries old technology running about?

2) What's the current fashion for equipment? People still running around with banged up crap from the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War, and what are the kinds of soldiers running around now? TFA Tron Troopers?

3) What in God's name happened to Corellia?

It's really a do what you want kind of roleplay site, not a lot of infringement on your creative ideas (obviously play fair, though). Like Teresa said, some people even ignore Corellia was destroyed. I'm flying around in some cobbled-together old Sithy ships! Tag me if you want to do a thread!

I've also seen a few CLone Wars clones roaming around that were locked in sleep pods/cryogenics

BTW, what's the site's stance on powered exoskeletons? Not something as ridiculous as a Space Marine or Iron Man, but exoskeletons removing the weight disadvantages of heavy armor or Boba Fett's "powered" undersuit (god that thing was so silly).

(Plan in head is a Corellian Nobleman who left the family on unknown circumstances that shamed both him and the bloodline greatly, stole a portion of the family's fortune and a ship before jumping into wild space to become a bounty hunter)

They have been used before. However, they provided so little benefit to their users that all of them were scrapped almost immediately. Sad really. Turns out laser guns, jet packs, modern cybernetics, and Sith Lightning melt exosuits and Iron Man just as fast as they melt tin cans. Messy.

Also, how much freedom do you have with ships in terms of customization for a new character? I was thinking a microwave emitter would be a useful addition to a VCX-820 for non-lethally subduing bounties and taking them in (or crippling force sensitives outside of sealed armor).

Customized ships are fine if not the norm. Even for new members. You're limited to 400 meters in it's longest dimension but, that aside, you can get pretty darn creative. A VCX 820 seems perfectly acceptable.
