The Weekly News is, quite obviously, dead. The primary reason is that not enough happens in a week to report on events in length. So the news will be updated anywhere from once a fortnight to once a month, depending on events unfolding across the Commonwealth.
First I would like to mention current OOC discussion threads within the faction if you haven't noticed. These are a great way to introduce ideas, work with fellow writers and get to know other members of the Commonwealth. Corrax is looking for pilots of the Commonwealth, no doubt to start a proper squadron which sounds very fun. Check it out here [x]. Zee has brought up a question about why characters have joined the Commonwealth, this is a great way to delve into the thought process behind a foreigner joining this nation, or why a patriot of the Commonwealth is serving his country, check it out here [x].
As the Commonwealth is still young, things will be shuffled around. I've been trying different ways to fit in an information section. While for the most part the pinned thread in the faction discussion [Index Room] does a great job, I have created a better area for military-only information called [Commonwealth Military]. It will be updated with extensive information on all branches of the military as time goes on. As for Role-Play planning, please head over to the Hex Dominion planning thread and give your input here [x], or alternatively check out this joint-operation between FO and CW against a Ssi-ruu Invasion here [x], please provide suggestions and input. While I am the owner and admin, I encourage this faction to be community led, this is for the people by the people, but I am still nonetheless happy to lead us if that is the will of the community!
The cogs are turning in the Commonwealth. The First Order and Iron Empire are both interested in diplomatic talks. I would like everyone to consider this about the Commonwealth; we're very much a neutral (Star Wars alignment) nation, and a 'chaotic good' nation on the traditional alignment. We're not divided like the Sith or Jedi, while we have high morals our politics is not black and white. Treaties with such factions avoid conflict, and avoiding conflict saves lives. Why waste trillions of military and civilian lives in a war that will never end? Just like the Sith and Jedi do.. it makes us no better than our enemies.
Nonetheless, as upcoming peace treaties with these nations are on the horizon, we also are in talks with the Galactic Alliance as of right now. Aside from this, the FO has invited us to an awards ceremony to congratulate the Commonwealth on their humanitarian relief efforts during the Omega Crisis, the thread is found here [x]. If wining and dining isn't your thing, grab your rifles and dig your trenches because we're fighting a three-way free-for-all on Cerea against a Vaagari x Swarm invasion right here [x].
I would also like to say I will be announcing a Member of the Month for the faction each month beginning in November. These people will be selected by their activity both OOCly and ICly as a member of the faction, from helping recruit people to join your fellow jarheads in battle, or fighting back the countless enemies the Commonwealth fights in the Unknown Regions. Each Member of the Month will also gain a unique weapon, armor or vehicle of their choice with the option of a restricted material used. You're a tank driver and want your tank to stand out? How about Some Phrik plating and a custom paint job? Or you like to hit them hard from afar,? I can whip up a sniper rifle of your design. Being a great member of this faction is rewarded, and those who don't make the cut do not fret, we will soon be coming out with medals for those who participate in dominions, skirmishes or invasions.
