Strengths:
- Enhanced Intelligence. Through the power of the Light, Nibbles is smarter than an ordinary rat, and has progressed from non-sentient to semi-sentient. Having said that he is still only a rat, just smarter.
- Enhanced Lifespan and Resiliance. With the Light Side flowing through him, Nibbles’ cells are infused with restorative energy, allowing him to recover from injuries and live longer than a rodent. However, this is merely degrees about regular; he will not be able to regrow limbs or come back from fatal injuries.
- Aura of Light. The Light fills Nibbles, and has him project a Light Side aura. This is detectable to those who can feel the Force. He also has an instinctive feeling of unease around those who use the Dark Side and who are not concealing their powers.
- Not a Genius. Unlike certain cartoon rodents, Nibbles is not a genius. If he is slightly smarter he still is not going to be composing poetry or discovering 6th dimensional quantum physics. His intelligence is now that of the smartest possible creature which is not sentient.
- Still a Rat. Nibbles is still a small rodent. For all the power of the Light, he is still a small furry mammal. Most creatures will have no problem even just stepping on the unfortunate rat. Nibbles is not a war beast!
- Sterile. Poor Nibbles will be unable to spread his superior genes to offspring; the process has rendered him unable to breed.
- Prey. In addition to the usual predators of the galaxy, Nibbles is also now visible to Force sensitives which might prey on it such as Vornskr or Sithspawn who hunt Force Users.
In appearance Nibbles almost resembles a simple adult male rat. He is about 25cm body length and the same in tail. His fur is a mottled black and grey colour, and his has an expressive nose and cute pinkish ears.
There are two major things which show Nibbles as being different from an ordinary rodent.
The first is his eyes, which appear to have specks of golden light inside, always changing and flickering. This is the only physical manifestation of the power now inside him.
Second, a Force user will detect a distinctly different feel in the Force from ordinary animals. Rather than the usual feel of life, a distinct and moderately strong Light Side aura projects from the creature, noticeable to those with the skill to recognise it.
Average Lifespan: Extended from the usual rodent span to about 50 years provided it does not die before then.

Diet: Being a rat, Nibbles has a great liking for grains, plants, insects and cheese. Items poisonous to rats are harmful to him as well such as rat bait.

General behaviour: Although born as a normal rat, Nibbles’ contact with Alkahest has altered his behaviour from normal. For one, Nibbles feels much more at home away from his rodent kin than previously. He has a bond with Phylis now and trusts her implicitly.
General rodent characteristics still apply for the most part; Nibbles likes to gnaw on things, and tends to hide from strangers or large noises. Though his eyesight has improved and he can even use very rudimentary Force senses, he still relies on scent most of all and hearing second.
As a result of being infused with the Light, Nibbles is more passive and will not attack unless cornered, even then seeking to escape.
History:
As Phylis Alince sought to develop her skills with Alkahest, the thought occurred to her that it should be possible to use this power for biological means as well. After all, for thousands of years Sith had used alchemy to create or mutate creatures using the Dark Side. Surely it would be possible to do the same with the Light Side.
Of course, as Alkahest and the Light Side in general, the means of doing so and the results are vastly different from Sith Alchemy. Whereas Sith twist creatures into cunning, dangerous perversions of their former selves, Phylis sought to use the Light to strengthen and enlighten a creature.
With the aid of several powerful Jedi, Phylis sought to create a Jedispawn. For her first specimen she chose a rat named Nibbles. Hardly the name of a fearsome or dangerous war beast, but perfect for her first test.
With the aid of Jedi Master [member="Coci Heavenshield"] Nibbles was put to sleep whilst Phylis operated. Using a combination of Force Light and Art of the Small, Phylis was able to bind the Light Side into the creature’s very essence, just as Sith had done for ages past. The only difference is that Phylis had to start small and experimentally.
Yet, when Nibbles awoke the operation was a success. The rat showed greater intelligence and a close bond with Phylis as well as a greater life expectancy and resilience. However, he remained a rat, and Phylis is careful to keep him close so she can study the effects of her work, and so he doesn’t end up as a sad little smear under a speeder!
As a prototype for the concept of Jedispawn, Nibbles was a success, and though he can do little by himself, he is a proof of concept which shows it is possible. Force only knows what Phylis will try next, perhaps a Ropo or Jester!

Notable Player-Characters: Probably not.
Intent: Star Wars, being a dualist setting, has the Dark and the Light. As there is Sith Alchemy, there is Phylis’ Jedi Alkahest. Just as there is Sithspawn it stands to reason there should be Jedispawn – though they are of course different in many ways. This first creature is intended to be the introduction, the beginning to a greater field of study. Even if Nibbles is hardly the most fearsome creature ever it is an achievement and serves as a basis for the craft to advance.
