Beta is a young Zeltron woman of slightly below average height and average weight. She has pink skin and curly violet hair that is difficult to manage, often looking a little unkempt and messy no matter what she does to tame it. While she has a cute face, her skin has little indents and acne scarring from a skin condition she suffered in her adolescence, and eye problems have forced her to wear a pair of wide framed glasses. She often dresses in more conservative styles unfamiliar to her race, choosing high collars and thicker material over low cuts and skimpy fabric. Despite being part of a race known for their coloration and noticeable presence, Beta doesn’t often stand out in a crowd and often falls into the background.
Personality:
Often described as shy and quiet, Beta tends not to speak her mind after being teased relentlessly in her youth. She has a flimsy sense of self-worth and seeks approval from those she looks up to, sometimes making her a bit of an apple polisher. Growing up on Zeltros where aesthetics are highly valued, Beta has come to dislike other Zeltrons and anyone she deems as too vain or self-absorbed. She is intimidated by attractive people, and this either manifests itself in her withdrawing to become even shyer, or her acting bitter towards said attractive person. Despite being occasionally standoffish, Beta just wants to fit in and feel accepted. If someone does manage to get close to her, she can be very sweet and loyal.

History:
As a young child, Nicole was a typical Zeltron who happened to be a bit shy. As she hit puberty, she transformed into a gangly, awkward young woman with an unfortunate case of severe acne and Rosacea. Most standard medical treatments weren’t very effective against her stubborn skin conditions, which unfortunately led to relentless teasing from her peers. As she was naturally shy, being teased only made Nicole withdraw even more to the point where she was unable to speak much around her own family. One particular nickname that stuck to her was “Beta”—courtesy of the mean kids who tormented her at school by picking on her quiet nature. Too shy to correct them or fight back, Nicole quietly accepted having her name stripped from her and a nickname applied, which she prefers to be called to this day.
Feeling utterly alone and seeking solace, Beta withdrew to the confines of her room and found solace in the HoloNet. In connecting with different beings across the Galaxy who shared her condition or had been through something similar, Beta found acceptance and began to spend the majority of her time holed up in her room and interacting with her new friends. One such individual, a Bothan named Zak, revealed himself to be a self-taught slicer. The two began a long-distance relationship, during which Zak taught Beta how to slice. Over the next two years, Beta learned the ins and outs of computers and how to navigate complex networks.
Completely enamored with Zak and empowered with her newfound skill, Beta agreed to put her skills to the test by helping Zak out with a project of his own. The pair planned a minor bank heist—Beta and Zak would jointly slice into the security system of a Zeltros bank. Once it was down, Zak’s “associates” would take care of the actual thieving. Their plan worked well, until Zak was tracked down by the authorities and promptly arrested. Beta didn’t know if it was because he was sloppy, her slicing skills were superior, or just bad luck, but she fled Zeltros shortly after to avoid being caught. She currently live with her cousin, Joza, who is unaware of her involvement.
Intent: To flesh out an npc member of Joza Perl’s crew and to introduce a source for the creation of Heartbeat House’s electronic goods.
