This led to Valek coming to the jedi temple on Tython just as the archives were being attacked and injured. Quickly he was shuttled away to a medical clinic and given nearly all the surgeries except one that the man requested not be done as of yet. A few weeks later when he was healed, Valek emerged as Nico Ike the cousin of Matsu and Noriko taking up as a padawan within the jedi order and being a little reclusive.
The gauntlets themselves are made as a standard armored gauntlet with armor weave attaching on the underside of the armored plate.There is a finger guard so the blade will not sever them that goes off the knuckles much like on a standard blade. The addition of a bifurcating cyclical-ignition pulse with twin rainbow gems allow the single bladed sabers to activate underwater and cycle through the color spectrum.
The shielding part of the gauntlet creates a half meter in diameter energy shield similar to the Deathwatch mini forearm energy shields or the gungan personal energy shield but the most inspiration comes from the Kilian rangers with the major difference being that this isn't just on the off hand. Both gauntlets can create a shield. There are duel diatanium energy cells (2 per gauntlet) are in the back of the gauntlet on "base" near the top of the forearm.
The power source of the saber has been modified heavily and designed within the housing. Four quad chambered diatium power cells are required per gauntlet adding more weight to the weapon but is countered by the lack from saber or shield. The saber and shield cannot be activated at the same time on the same gauntlet. The underside glove is treated with slivers of micronized elecrtum to give it a finish.
