Daughter to Kir and Fen-Alan Avyena, Nix’s life was always destined to follow a singular path; one which would take her from her swaddling clothes aboard a small station in the orbit of Mandalore to a position of rank and importance within Clan Avyena. It was a path well-trodden by her mother and father before her, but destiny is not always as straight forward as one would hope.
As she grew older, Nix began to prove herself as a skilled warrior and pilot. She embarked on the traditional path of a Mandalorian warrior, and began to take part in minor missions alongside her many mentors. Her ability to observe a situation and correctly deduce an appropriate course of action impressed her peers, as did her talents as a gunslinger and combatant.
However, things would change when she began along the path of leadership in earnest. Her first mission as Commander was intended to be a simple one: nothing more than a smash and grab to retrieve a lost Mandalorian artefact from a group of supposed smugglers and pirates. The mission began nominally, but a misjudged call regarding the strength of the enemy force lead to a spiral of losses that would culminate in the severely diminished Mandalorian squad being forced to retreat unsuccessfully, and Nix returned to Mandalore in disgrace and dishonour.
Unwilling to face the shame of remaining at her home, Nix set off on her own. She worked minor jobs here and there, just about keeping enough fuel in her ship to make it to the next star-port. The routine and simplicity of a life as a loner was calming to her, though in truth it was the lack of responsibility for others which gave her the greatest peace of mind. She could have continued along this path, the path of the Dar’manda, for the rest of her life, but then the Sith attacked.
By the time Nix had heard of the attack and been able to travel to Mandalore, the planet had been laid waste. She visited the glass-fields of her ancestral home city, preyed upon scavengers in the system's asteroid fields and hunted Sith stragglers and pretenders in the splintered chasms of rock and dust where great seams of Beskar had once lay, all the while haunted by her absence during Mandalore’s greatest battle in generations.
Having found solace in the Enclave, a harbour of Mandalorian culture and tradition within the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Nix is driven by a need to repay her debt to her people and her homeland, and to prove herself as a true Mandalorian. She was groomed for leadership and battle since her youngest memory, and she is driven to ensure that fate is no longer delayed or refused. Mandalore, like herself, can never be restored to its former glory, but while she failed her people before, Nix is determined to protect her new family as they all move forward to a brighter future.
