Faction [NJO] Building Memories

Tags: Kaelos Vryn Kaelos Vryn Jonyna Si Jonyna Si Katherine Holt Katherine Holt Vera Noble Vera Noble & whoever else is interested in coming along

Aruza.

Shan didn’t expect to ever be back on this planet. After what he had experienced with Valery and Kahlil. The people weren’t fond of the Jedi. Who could blame them after what happened to one of their villages…But he could blame them on how they took it out on the Padawan they had rescued. Shan wondered how the Padawan was coping now. Were they still a part of the Jedi? Or had they left after things turned out the way they did? Perhaps he still thought of Knight Volun

A small chuckle escaped his lips before the Mirialan shook his head. It wasn’t something he should laugh about. Instead his mind focused on the ruins of the village around him. The village that kept showing up in his dreams recently. He had no clue as to why, but he knew something had to be done. The people of this village had been forgotten for a substantial amount of time. The pain and suffering of the flames that swept through the village still felt raw, even to him. The ruins were a wound in a way on the planet. So Shan wanted to do what he did best. Treat the wound. Turn this from ruins of pain and suffering, to something new. A place to reminisce and remember. A memorial.

His hand ran along the second lightsaber clipped to his belt. The lightsaber he had not ignited in an eon. Because it wasn’t his to use. No. Why did he even still have it? It was hard for him to explain. It made sense for his attention to go to it now. The lightsaber and this village had plenty of history together. Too much history. A grimace passed across Shan’s face as he thought about what the lightsaber had been used for. How many people might have been killed by it. It was a small blessing to Shan at the very least that direct combat hadn’t seemed to be Nyaeli’s thing when he encountered her. But that’s not what his focus should be on. It should be on making this memorial.

Of course, he wasn’t doing this alone. The Mirialan had sent out a small message amongst the NJO. Asking for anyone willing and able to come and aid in building a memorial for the villages alongside Knight Volun. It wasn’t needed. A Jedi shouldn’t expect to have a memorial built but Shan didn’t think the pain would go away unless everyone who had died there was properly remembered. Some base rules had been put in place of course. First rule. No bothering the other villages. They had enough dislike of the Jedi already. If they approached you, that was fine. Second rule. All Padawans had to be supervised. Shan doubted that what happened to Knight Volun’s padawan would happen again but he didn’t care for risking it. Third rule. Show respect at all times.

How long had he been standing here? Shan shook his head, turning his head over towards the group that had came with him, clearing his throat for a moment. Leadership hadn’t really been his forte, but considering this was his idea, he should be the one to give out some of the history and the plans for what was meant to happen.

“Hello everyone. I’m pleased to see who’s come out today. We’re here to make a memorial for this village. I, and both Master Nobles came here a time ago. As some of you may able to sense, there’s been a lot of pain here. A lot of suffering. I want to change that. I want to give the Aruzans a place where they can remember those who have died here.”

A small cough to clear his throat as he took in the sight around him. A small twinkle in his eyes as Shan was trying to figure out the best way to try and make this memorial. It had to be special in his eyes.

“...I don’t think we should interfere much with the ruins of the village themselves. I want us to add to them. What you want to add can be up to you. Those of us who are skilled in plant growth could grow some flowers. Some of you can leave something personal if you wish. I’m going to work on making an actual monument from the ground. If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask them.”

With that, Shan waited to see if anyone did have any questions or anything to add. Turning his hand over a second lightsaber on his belt in pensive thought. This planet needed a lot of healing. This wouldn’t fix it all. But it would hopefully start the process.

Objective 1: Peaceful Home, Peaceful Mind
With the amount of dust, dirt, and debris that has covered the ruins, it’s up to someone to clean it all. Perhaps you might also find some belongings of those who used to live here

Objective 2: Made to last for an age
A memorial should be decorated with personal or meaningful decorations. Perhaps a bundle of flowers, a figurine, or even a personal item of your own. Whatever you think is suitable, it should be used.

Objective 3: BYOO!
Do your own thing! If you want to break some of the rules put in place by Shan, go ahead! Just don’t expect him to be impressed if you get caught.

Objective One

Jonyna's normal method for reconstruction was one of industrial might. A byproduct of her time as a Rebel, scrounging for every scrap of hope she could get. Rebuilding cities, giving people their lives back, it was all impossible back in the days of the Empire.

But sometimes, it required a more delicate touch.

Aruza was unfamiliar to the Cathar, but she knew forests, she knew mountains, she knew valleys.

Jonyna looked to Shan with a bit of pride, seeing the potential in the boy.

While she was certainly not one to think about a successor this early in her own career, she knew one day Shan would make a great Sentinel of Harmony.

"Alright, lead the way Knight Pavond. I'll be whatever you need me to be."

Vera had never been to Aruza before, but she could feel it the moment her boots touched the ground. The air was thick with something — something that clung to her skin, settled into her chest like an echo of voices long since silenced. Pain. Loss. The weight of history pressed into the ruins around her, woven into the very earth beneath her feet.

She exhaled, rolling her shoulders before adjusting the strap of the small pack slung over one shoulder. She hadn't exactly planned on coming along for this trip, but when she saw the call go out, something in her gut told her she should.

And so, here she was.

As she approached the small gathering, she caught the tail end of Shan's words — his voice steady, full of purpose. Vera stepped forward, her usual energy subdued, but not gone entirely. The ever-present brightness in her violet eyes dimmed just a fraction, out of respect for the moment. She shot a small, supportive smile in Shan's direction before offering a casual salute.

"Hey, sorry I'm late," she said, shifting her weight onto one foot. "Got held up, but I wanted to help."

Her gaze flickered across the ruins, taking in the cracked walls, the overgrown paths, the remnants of a place that had once been alive. This wasn't just some mission or routine cleanup — this was about remembering, about honoring.

She looked back at Shan, her smirk softening. "Where do you need me?"

Vera didn't come with any grand plans or personal stakes in this place, but she wanted to be here. She wanted to help.

Aruza.

Kaelos ticked off another planet on his list. He'd now adventured to more planets since being apprenticed to Braze Kai'el Braze Kai'el than he'd adventured to in his life. He ticked them all off in his head. Kiffu, Courscant, New Cov, Ilum and now Aruza.

Part of the duties of a Jedi were assisting in the rebulding efforts of civilisations and it was something that he'd been taught in the Jedi Temple by Shan Pavond Shan Pavond previously. When the request for assistance had gone out, Kaelos hadn't even thought twice before asking Braze Kai'el Braze Kai'el if he could assist. Luckily, the Jedi Knight had been more and than up for letting him go.

It helped that a member of the Jedi Council had signed up of course.

He'd tucked into the back of the small gathering, listening as Shan Pavond Shan Pavond spoke and laid out his ground rules. He offered a smile towards the Jedi Knight as he spoke, listening as the plan was explained. Kaelos himself wasn't skilled in plant growth, but what he could do is sweep and clean ruins.

Anything he could do to help, to remember the fallen. He would do it without even complaining. Every life that had been lost deserved to be remembered and deserved to be honoured. Every single life that had been lost was precious and needed to be given the respect it had deserved.

Towards the end of the speech, his eyes caught the young Vera Noble Vera Noble approaching and tucking into the back of the group. He offered her a smile and a friendly wink before he cast his eyes back to Shan who'd taken up a position in the middle of the gathering.

"Well I can clean so... where am I needed?"

Shan had to hide the small, tiny pang of fear that showed up in his face when people started asking him what they should do. He was hoping that they'd go off and do what they'd thought was best for themselves. He didn't know everyone's skill sets and what they were good at. But the Mirialan took in a deep breath to stay calm as he looked between the group around him to try and decide what they could, turning to face Jonyna Si Jonyna Si

"Master Si, if you could help keep an eye on the Padawans. Make sure they aren't going to be misbehaving. I know this is a new planet for most if not all of them. They might want to explore. And if you know of any way to help..."comfort" the land for lack of a better term, that would be most appreciated."

He was barely able to deal with the emotions of people, dealing with the emotions and the pain left on a planet's surface was going to be harder for him to treat. It wasn't severe, yet. But if they didn't deal with the pain there was a chance it could fester and get worse. He tried not to worry about that as he turned his attention towards Vera Noble Vera Noble , giving her a wide grin.

They wouldn't even be on this planet in the first place if it hadn't been for Vera so long ago, telling Kahlil, Valery and Shan about the vision she had. It was nice to see her here, even if the atmosphere was gloomy. That was what they were here to change, and he was sure that Vera's infectious personality would be good at helping to make the area at least somewhat cheery. Before he spoke however, his eyes darted over towards Kaelos Vryn Kaelos Vryn and then back to Vera. Oh. Oh. He had an idea. Kahlil and Valery might hate him for it. But he had an idea.

"Cleaning is a great idea, yes, but you might be able to help out in a more unique way Padawan Vryn. You can use psychometry correct?"

At least, Shan assumed as much since some of the Kiffar could use that power. It could be potentially very helpful for this, as he was about to explain.

"You might be able to find some belongings of the Aruzans who used to live here whilst you clean. If possible, can you see if you can come across who owned the belongings? That way their name can be put onto the memorial once it's been made. However, there's a possibility that the memories you experience could be quite emotionally-draining."

With that, Shan turned his head over towards Vera, giving a little smirk before the Mirialan carried on talking.

"So, I want Padawan Noble to go with you to help clean. If things start to seem like they're getting too much for you, I want her to take you aside for a break. Just to make sure you're doing alright and give you a moment to breathe."

There was the wink again.

Aris was lifting the larger portions of the ruins to help out, given his silly amount of strength. One by one, taking up what was a ruined wall to help clear the way for rebuilding. His sister was here, helping out somewhere else much to his joy. Thy could work together for once, right? He'd been all smiles as he looked over to her, just in time to see the wink sent her way from Kaelos.

The boy from last time.

A coy grin, or what passed for it on Aris's emotionless to most face, spread as he leaned on one of the pillars he'd set down. Just in view of Vera. He knew. He was going to tease her about it this time around, too.

Psychometry.

It was a use of his natural talent that he hadn't considered. As the Jedi Knight explained what he wanted, the young boy nodded along. It was a valid use of his skills and his abilities, something that would allow for more of the fallen to be identified.

"I can do psychometry" he confirmed. The last few times he'd utilised it had been on Aadihr Lidos Aadihr Lidos 's lightsaber and on the box that belonged to Braze Kai'el Braze Kai'el that kept haunting him. It was a skill he had natural mastery over, the perks of being a Kiffar.

"If I get any names, I'll pass them on" he confirmed with a nod. It was going to be difficult work, a lot of emotions would be attacking him. When he touched an object, he'd not only see the memories relating to it but feel every emotion linked to it. There was likely to be a lot of sadness and hurt amongst the ruins that he'd be experiencing.

However, it was work he'd happily carry out though. The more fallen that could be identified, the better.

Shan Pavond Shan Pavond continued, explaining that Vera Noble Vera Noble was going to be coming with him. Her role was to ensure he took breaks and looked after his own mental health and it was something that he trusted her to do. She'd keep an eye on him, make sure he didn't have a breakdown.

The young boy took up a place next to the young Noble and nodded. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Aris Noble Aris Noble watching them both. He didn't question it though, maybe he was just keeping an eye on his older sister. He'd never had a sibling so he wasn't entirely sure how those relationships worked.

"Ready for this?" he asked quietly.

Vera listened as Shan laid out his plan, nodding along as he explained Kaelos' role and — more importantly — hers. Helping someone deal with visions and the overwhelming flood of emotions that came with them? That was something she understood well. She had plenty of experience with them herself, and if anyone could keep Kaelos grounded through it all, it was her.

Not to mention… it meant spending more time with him.

And then he winked.

The moment his eye flickered shut in that quick, playful gesture, Vera felt the heat rise to her face. It wasn't dramatic — just a subtle warmth blooming in her cheeks, enough to be noticeable if someone looked closely. But she recovered quickly, exhaling through her nose as she crossed her arms and tried to play it cool. Tried being the keyword.

Because that's when she noticed him.

Aris Noble Aris Noble

Her little brother, leaning so casually on a pillar, just watching her. And that grin — that stupid, smug look of his. Vera's expression flattened into a deadpan stare. Slowly, her gaze narrowed, sharp as a vibroblade, her violet eyes burning with unspoken threat.

Don't. Even. Think. About. It.

A silent warning. A promise. If he even tried to tease her about this later, he was going to regret it.

Turning back to Kaelos, she squared her shoulders and nodded, as if she hadn't just been engaged in a deadly sibling stare-down. "Yeah," she said, her smirk returning, though there was still the faintest pink at the tips of her ears. "I'm ready."

She rolled her shoulders, adjusting the strap of her pack again. "Let's do this."

When Shan had put out a call for help, Katherine hadn’t hesitated to answer. She wasn’t intimately familiar with Aruza, having only heard about what had happened from Shan. From what she had gleaned, the people of Aruza weren’t the biggest fans of the Jedi Order, or well Jedi in general.

The ruins of the village they were gathering at was the result of something that had happened that day.

Setting foot within the ruins, Katherine could feel a swell of emotions that had been experienced that day. Ever since she had been ‘reborn’, Katherine felt as though she was more in tune with the Force, more capable of picking up on latent emotions without needing to focus.

It made her wonder if that had been something of a driving force for Shan, that had led him towards the path of a Healer.

Katherine had arrived fairly early, before most of the others had arrived. She was eager to help, and immediately went about helping remove some of the more heavier rubble. The combination of her strength and wings made it easy for her to move the harder to reach debris. Sure, one could just use the Force to pull it down, but Shan had made it clear to avoid damaging the ruins themselves.

Flying around, the redhead spotted some familiar faces. Namely, Kaelos who she recognized from her Knighting ceremony. She had caught the wink he had sent Vera’s way, which got a raised eyebrow from Katherine.

Interesting…

Almost instinctively, Katherine looked over to Aris, who she’d been assisting with the heavy lifting. She’d been around the Nobles enough to recognize when Aris grinned. It seemed he had also caught sight of Kaelos' wink.

Don’t need the Force to foresee some potential sibling shenanigans.

Jonyna nodded to Shan, looking to the two Noble children whom she could already tell were giving looks to each other. Jonyna knew enough from Valery Noble Valery Noble that putting two Nobles in a room together, regardless of relation, was a recipe for chicanery.

But, Jonyna approached it the way she always would.

"Hey Aris!" She said, approaching her former padawan. While the two had broken off with a mutual understanding, Jonyna did still feel guilty about leaving him. "How you been buddy?" She paused, looking over to Vera.
"I take it you're Vera then, yes? We met back on Cathar, but I haven't had the chance to see you with any of your family together."

xiqfVVX.png

Aris's grin just grew that much more as Vera realized he knew. Oh yes, he was going to tease her on this. What kind of brother would he be if he didn't? He chuckled lightly as he looked back to the pillar he was lifting, hoisting it up onto his shoulder with ease just as he heard another voice. Green eyes shifted over to look towards Jonyna as he offered her a gentle bow of his head. "Master Si. I'm good. Just using this crazy strength to help move things around. Getting a feel for how fragile these might be, so when I start moving the statues I don't accidentally break them."

He cast a glance to Vera then, smirking just a bit.

"She's got quite the partner to help her now, thankfully. They'll get this done."

The gaze shared between siblings got a smile.

It was a relationship he'd never had but one he had heard numerous stories about. The playful rivalry was something most siblings had, however the closeness they shared was unlike any other. In some ways, it's a relationship he was jealous that it was a relationship he never got to experience.

Somewhere just off to the side, Kaelos was certain he saw Katherine Holt Katherine Holt raise an eyebrow. Everyone had given him and Vera Noble Vera Noble an interesting look and he couldn't figure out why. Did he have dirt on his nose or a mark on his face or something?

A third party began communicating with Aris Noble Aris Noble before casting her eyes over to his older sister. Kaelos was completely skipped over, likely by accident. It honestly suited him fine though, it seemed like a catchup that he wasn't involved in.

Aris Noble Aris Noble acknowleged the third party as the Cathar native Jonyna Si Jonyna Si and Kaelos offered her a little headtilt from the distance. He recognised her name, she was the Jedi Council member who'd travelled to Aruza with them all.

"She's got quite the partner to help her now, thankfully. They'll get this done."

Kaelos offered Aris a glance and a nod, acknowledging the compliment. Or at least he opted to take it as a compliment. They would indeed get their job done, his powers of Psychometry and Vera's powers of keeping him grounded would be a great combination.

The young Kiffar cast his eyes to the older Noble sibling and cracked her a smile before he set over to the first pile of rubble and begun to look for anything he could use his powers on. He just needed anything that would hold memories.

Good. Everything seemed to be going along well. Vera and Kaelos had their pairing. Jonyna was working with Aris. Then Katherine was also working...Though seeing both Katherine and Aris moving the rubble with ease made Shan reach a hand up to his arm for a second to check his muscles, squeezing his bicep afterwards. The Mirialan would be lying if he said he wasn't jealous of their strength. Sure, he was more naturally gifted to being agile and quick but that didn't help in these kinds of situations.

With that being said, he needed to get to his own work. Moving around the ruins of the village as his eyes scanned around for a good place to start building. The centre of the village seemed to be the best place for him to settle down as he made his way there before sitting down on the ground, folding his legs beneath him and placing the palms of his hands against the ground.

There was plenty of feelings still engrained into the surface. Vast amounts of blood had been spilled and substantial amounts of pain had been carved into the ground from the fire that had swept through the village...but from fire came ashes, and from ashes could come new life. And so Shan focused on starting to make something new. Letting the Force flow through him and into the ground. It was going to be a lot of hard work to start building a monument out of the ground but Shan was ready to work as hard as he needed to.

Vera tore her gaze away from Aris long enough to turn toward Jonyna, flashing the older Jedi a lopsided smile. "That's me," she confirmed, crossing her arms.

Then, Aris spoke. Vera's eyes immediately narrowed. Her gaze snapped back to him, catching that smug little smirk he shot her way, and she knew exactly what he was implying.

"You're right," Vera said sweetly, far too sweetly. She turned, giving Kaelos a deliberately approving look, letting the compliment settle just long enough to make Aris suffer before she turned back with a sharp grin. "But, you know, Aris, if you want to help… I'd be more than happy to put you to work."

Then, she turned to Kaelos, brushing a stray strand of dark hair behind her ear before she nodded toward the wreckage they needed to search through. "Alright, Kae," she said, rolling her shoulders. "Let's get to work. We've got some investigating to do."

There was no telling what they'd find in the lingering memories of this place, but if anyone could help piece them together?

It was them.

"I'm sure we can find something for you"

He looked at Aris Noble Aris Noble with a smile, clearly taking after Vera Noble Vera Noble and teasing the young boy. He was completely oblivious to everything going on around him and maybe it was for the best. All of the looks and raised eyebrows were going completely over his head.

Kaelos crouched down, beginning to utilise the Force to manouver loose piles of rocks away from the piles and piles of rubble. He wasn't entirely sure what had happened on Aruza, but it had left a lot of damage and need for repair in it's wake.

Within seconds his fingers closed around around something made of a wool of some description. It was charred and tattered but it was enough. He closed his eyes, allowing the Force to flow through his body and into the item that he'd located.

"Mamma"

The young girl shouted playfully, her fingers closed around the nearly completed multicoloured blanket in the older woman's lap. She around six years old, excited in what her mother was holding. "When done mamma?" she asked, her voice almost sing songey as she pulled at the materials. The two knitting needles in the older woman's hands knocked together as she continued her work.

"Soon, my dear" came the response from the older woman, who looked down at her daughter with a smile. "Why don't you go and play with your brother?" she asked with a smile, prompting the younger girl to look around disgusted. "Stinky boy" she commented and her mother laughed. "Yes, but he is your brother" she replied softly. "It'll do you good to spend time with him. I won't be here forever"

Then everything turned dark, for just a few seconds until the memory was overtaken by flame.

"Mamma!"

The same girl screamed, except this time it wasn't playful. She was slightly older, her voice laced with fear and panic. "Arano? Mamma?" she shouted again, the panic in her voice intensifying with each passing second. Her fingers closed tight around the multicoloured blanket she was holding, as if it were her only comfort.

Flames danced around her, their orange tendrels just licking at her as she stood there frozen in fear. Something creaked about her, the house not entirely stable. Tears streamed down her face, dropping onto the blanket that had been made for her years ago.

Something hit her, and she fell to the floor as an almighty bang was heard. She lay there for a few moments, still alive but in shock. Eventually she sat up, looking around. Then she noticed it. The celing had fell in exactly where she was stood. Then she saw him. Younger than her. Handsome in his own way. She looked around ten now so he couldn't have been no older than seven. Crimson streaked out of a wound on his head and bones could be seen sticking out of places bones weren't meant to be. He'd sacrificed himself to save her.

Her brother.

Gone.

The young Jedi Padawan let go of the ruined blanket and dropped to a knee. So many memories had been connected to one blanket, memories of happiness and children playing turning straight into memories of loss and sadness. A brother who'd given up everything to protect his sister.

His eyes flicked over to Aris Noble Aris Noble and he silently wondered how he would have reacted had it of been his sister nearly crushed by the celing. Would he have given himself up to save his sister? Would he have pushed her out the way like Arano had his sister?

Silently, a tear fell from his eye and he took a gulp. It most definitely wasn't the only memory like that he'd be seeing today and he needed to be able to handle that. The positive was that he'd identified another name for Shan Pavond Shan Pavond 's memorial.

"A boy named Arano lived here" he said quietly, sadness just slightly creeping it's way into his usually calm demeanour. "Crushed to death, somewhere over there" he gestured towards the pile that Katherine Holt Katherine Holt was working her way through. "If we find his body, I'd like to reunite him with his sister's blanket" he said simply.

Pushing himself up to his feet, he looked over to Shan Pavond Shan Pavond and called out for him. "I have a name for you, Knight Pavond" he confirmed. "Arano"

Jonyna watched the two bounce off each other, being reminded of her own siblings for a moment. While she was much too old to have had this kind of relationship with them, she had seen plenty of this from them when they were alive.

She needed to go back to Ryloth again.

She paused, looking over to Kaelos.

Speaking of her family...

"...I might be able to help with that. I'm not much of a seer of the Wellspring, but I know someone who is."

Jonyna pulled her saber out, taking a moment to disassemble it, and allow her Mother's crystal to shine.

Shine it did, before Jonyna's mother Cici appeared in the form of a Ghost.

"Mom, if you will? We're looking for a boy who died here."

Katherine shook her head, a small smile on her face, at the unspoken conversation going on. She returned to her work, sifting through the rubble and moving the larger pieces out of the way. All the while though, she kept her focus half on the conversations that were happening nearby.

She could feel the Force ebb and flow as Kaelos crouched down near the piles of rock. The young Padawan was searching, until it seemed something called to him and he focused his efforts towards it.

The redhead stopped to observe, seeing the array of emotions that crossed the Padawan’s concentrated expression. Until it finally released, and the Kiffar fell to one knee.

As soon as he had gestured towards the pile she had been working on, Katherine redoubled her efforts to get through it. So focused was she, that the redhead was almost startled when a ghost appeared before the pile of rubble. It was the first time Katherine had ever seen a Force Ghost, at least in person.

Having missed Jonyna’s words, Katherine didn’t immediately click on to the relation. But just one spared glance between the ghostly figure, and the Cathar Master made it all too clear.

With Cici’s guidance, it didn’t take much longer to find where the boy was. Katherine’s expression grew somber as she lifted one more piece of rubble off, revealing a limb.

Aris, give me a hand.” She called out to the towering Noble, gesturing for him to continue removing the debris. Katherine on the other hand, quickly turned and hopped into the air, a brief glide over to the pile of supplies that had been brought along with the group.

They had made sure to come prepared, not just to remove rubble and find lost items of familial importance. It was known there would be a high chance of finding bodies amongst the ruins.

Katherine grabbed a length of cloth, and carried it over to an open space near the pile of rubble. She carefully laid it out across the ground, before moving over to assist Aris.
