Knighthood
Valery stood in the Hall of Knighthood, her hands lightly folded in front of her, and allowed her gaze to drift across the quiet, sacred space. It didn't take long to see familiar faces around her, all present to offer their support to one of their own. Once more, this hall would witness another taking a step forward in their journey as a Jedi. A step countless of Jedi have taken before him, and many more would take after him. But today, it was about him.

Caelan Valoren Caelan Valoren .

Valery's thoughts lingered on the young man she had accompanied through his final trials. A mission that had turned unexpectadly dangerous, but one where he had shown the skills necessary to be among the legendary Jedi Knights. She turned toward the entrance of the chamber now, sensing his presence drawing near. A smile tugged at the corners of her lips, proud but quiet, as was fitting for the moment.

He had come far from where he started, a young man with the weight of a whole world on his shoulders.

Now, the path of the Jedi awaited.

...
With a gathering of Jedi watching her every move, Valery stepped closer to raise the blade of her lightsaber high above the ceremony, before carefully lowering the blade down to hover just above Caelan's left shoulder. "By the right of the council.."

Slowly, she re-positioned the blade to rest just above his head. "By the will of the Force.."

Finally, Valery lowered the blade again, hovering it over Caelan's right shoulder. "I dub thee..."

"Knight of the New Jedi Order."

Katarine was hovering towards the back of the assembly. She had met the King of Devit a short while ago as he requested an investigator to help him in a matter related to his kingdom. She was here to show her support towards the new Knight and also towards the New Jedi Order as a whole.

As her deep green eyes scanned the room she had to admit the restoration efforts went well. The Coruscant Temple stood as a proud symbol of resilience in the core. Now with the imperial retreat and the core restored moments like these were important shows of strength and fortitude.

She clapped along with everyone else, genuinely happy to see a new member added to the ranks.

Connel was not staying, he had to go out on assignment.

The life of a Shadow.

However, he made a point of being here for another Ceremony, if only for a few moments, but he watched the rapidly aging King become Knighted. When it was over, he was going over what the informant he had recently spoken to about his promise to "uncle" Thurion Heavenshield Thurion Heavenshield about his question to find and bring back "Aunt" Coci as he stood there. Connel was probably the only one not in robes, he was in his gear, only letting his mask hang down over his back like a hood.

Buster was there of course, being a good boy and waiting for permission (every time) to say "HIIIII!" to everyone he saw.

When given the chance, Connel stood before the Royal Knight. Congratulations. Now you can't borrow my shield anymore. With a wink, and a nod to the the failed invasion of Tython, he clapped his leg for Buster to follow and they headed out. Not to be rude, but to get back to work.

As the knighthood proceedings commenced, Drystan arrived at the hall, a light sheen of sweat on his face as he adjusted the formal robes of the Order. He had just wrapped up a mission—his last stop being a medical bay where fresh wounds were patched up.

He gave Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor a curt nod as the other Shadow passed by. Drystan didn't need to ask where he was headed. As a Shadow himself, he already knew. After all, he was just returning from his own operation.

Though he made an effort to hide it, his movements were stiff. A noticeable limp followed each step, and only the layers of traditional robes concealed the wraps and bandages covering his body.

This visit was twofold: one, to formally welcome Caelan into knighthood—and two, to find a halfway decent excuse to leave the med bay and get back to work. The staff had insisted he rest for a few days, but it didn't make sense to him. He could recover just as easily en route to his next mission aboard his ship.

He didn't plan to stay long, just enough to offer his congratulations and mingle briefly with the crowd before slipping away again.
Drystan approached the new Knight Valoren with a faint grin.

"I remember when you were just yay tall on Devit. They grow up so fast, don't they?" A jest, light in tone.

"Since you're a Knight now, if you ever want to take your fighting skills to the next level—feel free to reach out."

"Since you're a Knight now, if you ever want to take your fighting skills to the next level—feel free to reach out."

"That may have to wait until you've healed sufficiently."

Cora had witnessed Caelan's knighting from the council circle. Now, she approached the newly minted knight and his well-wisher from behind. Drystan was given a quick once-over and a raised brow. He couldn't be faulted for wanting to congratulate his friend, but she had an inkling that he did not intend to return to the medbay after the festivities.

Her expression warmed as she turned to Caelan. Creed was right – he had grown since their mission to Lazerian IV, in height and skill. She recalled their first meeting where she'd guided him in the cleansing of tainted ruins.

"It has been an honor to both teach and witness you grow, Knight Valoren. Remember that you serve not just Devit, but the galaxy as a whole. The Force will guide you."

With a smile, and her hand over her heart, she tilted her head to him.

He hadn't expected a ceremony. The pomp and circumstance of it all was fine, he was used to such things, but it wasn't a necessity for him. Still, he wouldn't not show up to his own Knighting ceremony. That would just be silly. So he entered on time and strode forward to stand before the grandmaster and then kneel as she went about the knighting process. He'd seen similar things done in other Kingdoms that still had Knighs, but not in his own. At least it felt somewhat familiar.

When it was over, he stood, and bowed to Valery Noble Valery Noble .

"Thank you, Grandmaster," he said, smiling at her as he lifted his head once more. "It is an honor to serve the people of the galaxy as a Knight of the Order."

The first to approach was Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor , whom he'd first met on Tython when they'd tried to take it from the grasp of the Dark Empire. The Knight had loaned him a shield which had proven rather useful. When he mentioned it again, Caelan grinned.

"It was rather useful at the time, but I can make my own shields now. Thank you, Knight Vanagor."

As Buster went to follow, Caelan leaned down and gave the pup a good scratch behind the ear before he cold escape. He knew what a good dog liked.

The next to approach was Drystan Creed Drystan Creed , whom Caelan had worked with twice. The first time had been on Lazerian when the Jedi and the Alliance had helped him to remove the Obsidian Syndicate from the world and retake it. He had been instrumental in helping reclaim the home that Caelan had grown up in. The second time was when they had undertaken a mission to rescue some missing operatives. A it of training, that had been, with Caelan forced to take the lead even though he wasn't much of an investigator!

"Yeah, I remember you and your disappearing act quite well, Drystan! But I'll take you up on that offer sometime. Thanks for coming."

Third to approach was Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania . He'd known of her before he'd ever met her because Ukatis was not far from his home world. Though he'd never been there himself, it was impossible not to hear what his parents talked about in regards to it. He'd found her quite friendly when they'd worked together in cleansing an old temple, and her teaching on Force Light had been instrumental in keeping him alive more than once. For that, even when she spoke and clasped her hand, he reached out and hugged her.

"Without your teachings, Cora, I wouldn't be here now. Had you now shown me what you had in that temple, I would be dead twice over. For that, you get a hug."

"That may have to wait until you've healed sufficiently."

"And after I get back from this upcoming mission—I've got adequate medical on my ship. Doesn't make sense to stay here when I can patch myself up in the field."

With a half-hearted wave to dismiss any concern Cora might've had, Drystan turned his attention back to Caelan—only to jump slightly at the newly inducted Knight's remark. He scoffed, caught off guard by how accurately it reflected his own internal plan.

"Disappearing act? Who? When?" He forced a laugh. "I'm not planning to stay long, just have some... healing business to conduct and all that."

Another dismissive gesture followed as he tried to play it off with a grin.

"And of course—just let me know if you want pointers. Always happy to help. Training and learning doesn't stop once you become a Knight. If anything, I'd wager you end up learning even more than you did as a Padawan."

As Caelan moved to embrace Cora, Drystan caught the moment with a mischievous glint in his eye. A quiet chuckle escaped him as he pulled up his hood, slipping away into the crowd of similarly robed Jedi.

Perfect timing. The distraction gave him just the opening he needed to avoid any further questions.
