- Deep Penetration: Launching extremely high-velocity, sharp and durasteel tipped rounds at its intended targets, the NK18 Yoshihisa can guarantee to penetrate most forms of armor both in the civilian and military calibers. Beyond that it should be assumed and correctly so that the weapon is then able to pierce the skin of most species' and reach the vital organs within. With the Yoshihisa at your side, one would hate to be your opponent.
- Accuracy and Range: Another strength which can be traced back to the weapon's internal rail system. Due to the speed at which its rounds are propelled, it takes a much longer time for them to begin to lose their velocity and fall short of their intended target compared to most conventional projectile weapons. This also means they can travel a greater distance in a faster amount of time, this combination equating to a rifle with both great distance and accuracy. If you can see him, you can hit him.
- Reliable: Years of experimentation with railgun technology has led to the Yoshihisa, as such it lacks the draining amounts of maintenance required for previous rail-propelled weapons platforms. Very simple to operate, clean and repair even when compared to traditional blaster weapons, the NK18 prioritises user familiarity and effectiveness above all. The Yoshihisa will not break down on you in the middle of a battle and the weapon itself is physically durable, more than capable of taking a beating.
- Size: Frequently criticised for its weight and size, the Yoshihisa would do better to stay in the hands of the well-built men and women of the Nakaioma Security Services in all honesty. Though not prohibitively inconvenient for field operations, close-quarters situations or other fast moving dynamic environments. The Yoshihisa makes no attempt to hide its less agile physical build, with the rifle's advertising instead making a point to compare its advantages.
- Ammo Capacity: The projectiles used as ammunition by the Yoshihisa are large, one might think the size of the rifle itself may alleviate this problem. But its rail system takes up a significant amount of space within its interior, as such there is only a limited amount of free room left for ammunition to be slotted into. Operators are advised to remain aware of the number of rounds remaining in their magazine while in the middle of an engagement.
The NK-18 Yoshihisa is a linear accelerator and rail-propelled battle rifle designed, developed and manufactured by Nakaioma Defense Dynamics, a subsidiary of NAKAIOMA. Powered by a sophisticated in-built rail system located along the weapon-spanning barrel of the rifle which utilizes electromagnetic force to propel sharpened projectiles at targets with the intention of dealing devastating amounts of damage via kinetic energy, the NK18 was originally designed solely for use with Nakaioma security personnel, however would later find an expanded audience in the civil market. Manufactured out of a carbonfiber-permasteel composite material casing, the Yoshihisa is likely noticeably lighter than it should be due to this use of carbonfiber, with the permasteel providing a layer of physical durability to the rifle.
Most familiarly seen in the hands of Nakaioma's more heavily armed security officers, the NK18 has nevertheless seen adoption in the civilian market and can potentially be seen utilized by anyone from mercenaries to homeowners to merchant vessel crews. Advertised as being at the apex of rail-propelled weaponry, with flashy, attention-grabbing HoloNet commercials showing the deep penetration power of the incredibly slender and sharp projectiles it launches, some examples of scenes showing stormtrooper armor and security doors having holes poked through them. Needless to say, Nakaioma Defense Dynamics has invested a significant amount of credits in its continuing battle to dispel the notions of blaster superiority to projectile weaponry among much of the populace. Or more specifically railgun weaponry.
Commonly referred to as Nakaioma's primary rifle due to the vast quantities it manufactures and distributes to its paramilitary forces, along with the funding put towards its initial development. The NK18 Yoshihisa is designed to be an easy-to-use universal weapon where even first-time gunowners can quickly get used to how it handles. Not as specialized as some of its other weapons may be, the Yoshihisa is nevertheless an all-round high quality rail-propelled weapon platform. With its internal rail system allowing for it to maintain a great effective range for accurate shots as well as high levels of stopping power and damage output due to the velocity at which its projectiles are fired. Though some of the most frequent complaints of the weapon revolve around its weight and size, being somewhat clunky for physically smaller customers to hold. The weapon is perfectly fitted for the average macho soldier however.
