No Longer a Victim (Spencer)

Tempest

Storm of the Force
Sadly, this thread was lost during the...incident last week, but these two writers have decided to press on regardless!

The shuttle which touched down on Annaj was cramped, dirty and uncomfortable. On board this, the cheapest sort of intergalactic transport, were those who could afford no better. Itinerant tradesmen and labourers made up the majority, but amongst the passengers was a dark skinned girl just out of her teens. She was dressed in a dirty and frayed outfit, and seemingly had no luggage.

Stepping out on the platform she stared into the cloudy sky as if looking for inspiration.
"Hey darkie, you ever want a ride again, you come see me!" the Captain said, leering at her.
The woman's eyes narrowed and she stalked away, her white and black hair blowing slightly in the wind. The woman's name was Tempest. That was all, she had no family, and even the name she did have was not given by a loving parent. It was more a label.
As she left the starport she looked around, but she had no money, no friends, no hope. She was yet another person who had discovered the hard truth of freedom.

And yet...there was something unusual about Tempest. Although anger and resentment bubbled in her, what was more astonishing was the power of the Force surrounding her, for those who could see it. Tempest was clearly someone of considerable natural ability, but utterly no control or training...someone who could be an asset to the right person.

Spencer had finished up some business on the planet and was gathering her things. Something scratched at the back of her mind; usually she would ignore it and shake it off as something or someone trying to get into her mind. Mental defenses went up quickly, but the itch continued. Putting a bag down onto a table she looked up towards the ceiling. Something was wrong and it was the Force telling her to stop ignoring it.

Tossing the bag over her shoulder she headed towards the hanger, the closer she got the more and more the itch began to bother her. Cursing quietly under her breath she moved quickly towards the hanger till she was in a full sprint. The force pushed her forward and she continued. While she moved, she sensed something dangerous and powerful, instead of ripples like she was used to sensing – large waves crashed about her.

Something terrible was in the works and she had to stop it.

And so things came to a head. Quite appropriately as it turned out.

Tempest came to a halt outside the spaceport. There speeders and other transport were waiting to take passengers into the main city or elsewhere. Like all such places everywhere there was a fair amount of 'friendly' competition. As Tempest stopped and stared at the traffic driving past she didn't even see the taxi driver until he was just a metre away.

"Dear lady, would you like a rise? Special discount for such a beautiful lady like you!" Incredibly, the man thought this was not only witty, but enticing too!
"No," Tempest said flatly.
"Come on, I know a good place you can stay. My brother will give you a nice deal."
"No," Tempest said again, not really paying attention.
The man made his first...and probably most serious mistake. He laid a hand on her arm. "Come on, I'm sure we can-" he began.
Whatever his offer was, it was interrupted.

Tempest turned on him. All her fears, frustrations and anxieties boiled up in her and she got angry. "I said NO!"

The Force around her built up to a shattering climax and like a storm, it burst. A wave of telekinetic power picked up the unfortunate man and hurled him so hard at his own speeder that it smashed to pieces.

Tempest stopped, looked at the mess. People were looking at her, guards were approaching with weapons, and fear gripped her mind. Turning, she fled blindly into the alleys surrounding the spaceport, not know where she went or why, only that she needed to escape.

The swirling Force around her would still give her away though....
