No More Duel Request Threads?

I made a parody thread title, and attempted to make something that was seen as bad, into more of a joke - however it was blatantly typed in white font - so its easiest to see with the sites color scheme - that i was serious and was looking for challenges.

It was a comical attempt to satiate the shade, but was a legit request thread. Instead of a warning, request to alter or anything, it was locked. Nothing said in any words.

So, was i wrong in believing we are still able to make duel requests?

You can make duel requests. I think you know that's not what was being locked.

The DLotS thing is over. It's a dead meme. All it's doing is causing salt on this board, and I think you know that too.

Please, make all the duel requests you want. But the thread was locked because it's bringing up old vitriol that other members have been asked repeatedly not to go back to.

Duel requests are probably still perfectly acceptable.

However I would imagine that the Admin in question much like I..............did not view or interpret your thread as a legitimate duel request thread.

Perhaps in the future more appropriately worded request would be advised.

Huh.

I have been here, less often than, around 3 times in the past week. What the acronym even means, is legit beyond me. It seems something new. My point is, i tried to make light of something i saw was looked down on, and was instantly blocked out. No steps taken other than that.

I would also like to make this note in the rules, that for whatever reason, you will see your threads closed whether a warning was given or not.

Well i..........made it blatant.......at the bottom........in an alternate color and everything. I said i was into the idea of challenges and would even stick with whatever damage came at my char.

Whether intentional or not, that thread was liable to stir an already stirred pot. I honestly think it was a good call to shut that thread down before it devolved into yet another pointless back and forth argument/pissing match.

If you want your duel, request one. But please don't pick a drama and act innocent when it doesn't play out the way you expected. Writing a disclaimer in a different colour, in a really tiny font size, doesn't excuse that behaviour.

And for for the sake of information, the abbreviation DLotS stands for Dark Lord of the Sith.

Comedy, comedic affluence, is in the eye of the beholder. I believed what i was doing would split tensions, give a laugh, maybe a "this frakking guy", but all in good nature. Also, on the beholder note, what is appropriate and isnt, is also matters of understanding via the reciever of the situation.

So, your coming to the page to passive agressively bash me? Definitely appropriate. Thanks man!

Ok, gotta jump this one. I am in no way, nor anywhere near the closest to, the first to do exactly what i did. However i did legitly try to make it funny.

In regards to a back and forth, had it been requested of me to alter the content, i would have.Instantly avoiding the issues? No?

"But please don't pick a drama and act innocent when it doesn't play out the way you expected." Yo, did i say i was innocent? Opposite. I questioned if something had changed, but the entire time have said that i made an attempt at comedy. Not that i wasnt incorrect. Quite honestly in my three years on this site, i have made plenty of douchey threads, and have owned them and since moved on.

TL;DR
I did not do anything wrong, did not act innocent, and now have had multiple comments not regarding the topic at all.

Thank you for your opinion though!

[member="Damien Daemon"] Listen. We've talked to each other before, so I'm hoping you'll you'll listen to me for a sec.

While you may not have done anything wrong... it was still out of poor taste regardless.

Administrators have the duty and responsibility to moderate what they see as overly dramatic between writers/players, so that nothing gets out of hand and people leave the community. It is in their best interests to maintain a balance that satisfies the site from experiencing a decay of the community (otherwise, they are no longer authoritative over a community, and then, no longer have a community at all). Without the early action of an administrator acting upon something they see degrading quickly, tension and hostility will grow between members, and lose faith in administration - who then lose their ability to truly moderate and guide.

The perspective of the administration and much of the community sees the whole "Dark Lord of the Sith " debacle as a point of contention... and we literally just go over it.

Comedy is tragedy plus time. And while I wouldn't consider the 'drama' that occurred a tragedy, nonetheless you allowed very little time to take place to formulate a "proper comedy". Rarely does bringing up fresh wounds produce a laugh and bond two bitter sides together, or whatever it was you were attempting to accomplish with your comedy beyond receiving possibly a hoarse laugh.

That is all I have to say.

Thanks for the polite input. I will have to acknowledge what was done must have been right in one way or another, as already i have been passively insulted, told multiple times i was wrong, and now even told by one of my favorite writers.

I believe it was handled poorly on the RPJs part, as for example it was locked, then unlocked simply so an admin could say "no" (in my opinion a blatant misuse of the abilities given them. whats the point then of the closing, if anyone can still allow their point? It was closed, no one should have said more. in it unless it was opened to the masses.). However, I was recieved poorly and have to admit that as well.

At this point in time, i think ima just go back to the minor subs i have been doing. Clearly my brains not on right, or id see my issues, no? So no harm done, other than my feelers being hurt.

Again, thanks V for the polite means of conveying a point i should probably see. Much love my so inconsistent master :D

I think even if someone thinks you don't realize you've done something wrong, you should be notified, not ridiculed or ostracized. Is it their job? Of course not, but you do no better mistreating someone just because it flew over their head. Ignorance allows knowledge, only stubbornness prevents it.

Not calling you ignorant, Damien, just stating a point
