STRENGTHS
Built to take a Beating: The Nok-Class Destroyer is designed with a heavy defense in mind. It is outfitted with reinforced durasteel plating, layered durasteel armor and high output shielding. All this combined ensures that it can take damage from larger, more powerful capital ships and remain in the fight. It also comes outfitted with a damage reduction component to help distribute and minimize damage from turbolaser fire. The Durasteel Armor it uses is of an enhanced Carbon-Durasteel design.
Flak not Force: While the Nok-Class Destroyer is outfitted with Turoblasers, Ion Cannons, etc its main armament are its Heavy Flak Cannons. Designed to close the distance for maximum efficiency the Nok-Class is capable of delivering an absolutely devastating amount of punishment the closer it is to enemy ships.
WEAKNESSES
What Hangars: A Nok-Class is equipped with enough space for a single Shuttle and another small, personal spacecraft. It has no Fighter Squadrons of its own.
At Range: The Nok-Class is equipped with turbolasers, etc to keep it in the fight however these are limited and in small numbers on the ship. Its purpose is to close distance, soak damage and rip through enemy vessels of smaller, comparable or larger size in close quarters. At long ranges the Nok can survive a beating but has difficulty doling out one of its own.
DESCRIPTION
The Nok-Class Destroyer is a dedicated Capital Ship for the Hutt Space Consortium. While the Hutts do have a vast amount of resources the nature of the Consortium means that many of the Syndicates that are members rely on their own fleets. The Nok-Class was designed and built to offer the Consortium an 'everyman' ship in the sense that it would be available to all Syndicates wanting to use it.
While designed as a Destroyer Class the Nok is made to be able to combat larger vessels, Star Destroyers may be out of its league however Line Cruisers are not. Built with defense and close quarters in mind the Nok is outfitted with damage reduction components and high output shields alongside its enhanced armor.
The Durasteel Armor the Nok-Class utilizes is an enhanced Carbon-Durasteel blend that reinforces the hull of the Destroyer and the armor has also been layered. Simply put the layered armor utilizes small gaps between overlapping plating which provides further damage reduction and concussion negation capabilities. Not a new technology but a different use of an existing one.
Heavy Flak Cannons are the main armament of the ship, a small assortment of turbolasers and ion cannons ensure enemy vessels know its there at range however these are not the primary offensive weapons. In close the Flak Cannons of the Nok are meant to devastate ships of a similar or smaller size than the Destroyer while also causing heavy damage to larger vessels.
Typically speaking Nok-Class Destroyers work best when deployed in pairs or as wolfpacks of three or more ships. Their ability to close the distance quickly with larger vessels ensures that working together they can debilitate most ships in a short amount of time. In Hutt Space it is not uncommon to see these ships patrolling various areas in teams ensuring that those not aligned with Consortium recognize them as a representation of its control.
