Not everyone walks away

The guard didn't even see the hand shoot out of the darkness before it wrapped around his mouth, silencing his brief gasp. Before he could even move, a thin blade was stabbed quickly into both of his lungs, before a final stab pierced through his neck. Stepping out of the shadows, Hlim'izun'sittur looked either way down the winding corridor as he slowly lowered the body to the ground. The guard was still alive, but as blood poured into his lungs and throat, he was unable to call out, or even scream. Hlim'izun'sittur dragged the body back into the small alcove he had been hiding it, making sure to wipe away what little blood escape with the guards own clothing.

Hlim'izun'sittur felt minor regret for having to kill the man. He had spent the past six weeks mapping out the entire industrial complex, making sure he knew the exact patrol patterns of all the guards and the best hidden locations. He was a contract killer, but he didn't like unnecessary deaths. Complicated matters in the long road. The guard had simply decided on that day to step away from his patrol route to get a quick smoke. Wrong place, and most definitely the wrong time.

Hlim'izun'sittur sprinted across the small clearing, moving with the shadows of the high looming factories on all sides around him. What might have been clear sky centuries ago had long since become nothing but smog filled air, letting only a half light fall on the world below. It took him less than two minutes to get across the main plaza, avoiding the line of sight of the guard patrols and the outdated security cameras set around the perimeter. Luckily for Hlim'izun'sittur, the owner of this factory complex was cheap.

Reaching the desired building, Hlim'izun'sittur reached into the small belt around his waist, pulling out an extension cable and attaching it to the wrist gauntlet he wore. He fired it above him quickly, jerking his hand down to lock it in place as the wire secured itself in the overhanging roof above him. Hlim'izun'sittur took two steps backwards, before throwing himself forward and sprinting up the wall, the extension cable pulling him up while his momentum accelerated the motion. When he reached the top, he glanced down just in time to see the guard come around the side of the building. Even with the earlier set back, everything was still going according to plan.
