Not exactly a Vacation

There was a beach, and there was sun and fun, but this wasn't exactly a vacation. Then again Damian had convinced [member="Kana Truden"] to wear a rather flattering piece of swim wear as they sat on the beach and observed. People were scurrying about in various acts of play. The beach was nice, it was crowded so there was a certain safety to that, and yet it was easy to pick out the middle aged agents in suits among the bathing suit clad beach goers.

Fresh salt air filled his nostrils as Damian took in a deep breath. The city was located on the coast, which was sort of a paradise. Outside of the coastal settlements on this continent was nothing but desert scattered with a few oasis's. The planet was known for resorts along the coast and created devices to prevent the rains which were once frequent. The unintended side effect was a drying of inland regions. Dried up crops and generally poor conditioned pushed more and more settlers to the vibrant coast leading to large overpopulated cities that were, at least in the tourist areas, well manicured.

"It isn't that bad is it Kana?" Damian said with a little smirk. He peered over his sunglasses at the woman lounging next to him. "Admit it, you're enjoying yourself...."

Life as a healer was all about work. Stress was a pretty common part of it too. Sulon was far away and just this once Kana would afford herself the opportunity to rest. Sure, Damian had most likely come up with a reason to have her in a bathsuit on a warm beach somewhere, and sure, Kana wasn’t exactly going to complain. Her eyes hid behind a colorful set of shades peering up towards the skies. Her chest rose and sunk at an unusually slower rate. She probably wasn’t supposed to feel it, but she did. The strike of opportunity had been taken and with it, Kana rested. Deep.

A throaty inhale called out into the warm air as she sat up.

“What?” The healer asked while still barely awake. “Yeah, yeah, sure. Do whatever you feel like.”

Her head fell down into her blanket again. She needed this moment of rest where all was just fine in the world. At least for another few hours.

“Wait, what did you say?” Kana asked again, just to reassure herself. “I need to rest.”

A deep inhale and a slow exhale followed. “I forgot how difficult this life was.”

Damian looked over at the apparently sleepy [member="Kana Truden"] and beamed her a reassuring smile. Kana was as pretty as always, but Damian was no longer the nervous boy he once was. As a matter of fact due to the idiocy of cloning he has grown up a lot in a very short period of time and found that as his body matured so did his outlook on life. He was no longer bound by the silly hormonal urges he once had... then again... "It doesn't have to be," he said looking up to the sky. He had to place a hand in the air away from the sun in order to block out the harmful rays. "We could always just run away, fly across the galaxy and be free. You know I could find us 'work' wherever we went."

It was a pipe dream. Damian knew nothing would come of it. Kana would never stop being a Jedi, especially not to become a thief, conman, smuggler, or whatever Damian would decide to turn into work for them. Then again Damian did own a fashion company now and even if they just decided to retire they would still be well provided for. Although, if truth had to be told, Damian himself didn't imagine he'd be able to live another life for too long. "The police station is across the street behind us," he said with a nod. "All the information we want should be inside." Of course they weren't likely to give the information to two Jedi regardless of where they were from. This was a neutral system. "I don't think a con will work. They aren't the community outreach sort of security. We might need to break in."

A high-pitched tsk and snicker parted Kana’s lips almost as if on instinct.

“No, I am perfectly fine with being a healer.” She said before air burst through her nose in another chuckle. “I just need to take a break from it every now and then.”

Pipe dream to say the least. Kana wouldn’t want to go back to the life of drifting from place to place during her ‘phase.’ More often than not she found that the galaxy wasn’t a very caring place. She already knew that much from before she had even joined the Jedi Order in the Republic. The time she had spent on Coruscant merely served as a good reminder of that. In many ways it was also what kept pushing her back towards the routine that she had known before then, she didn’t want to be part of what made the galaxy that horrible ever again.

Not that Damian’s joke proposal was meant to be taken that way. It was just very easy for things to slip out of control, let the exception become the norm and the norm the exception. Even if your intentions were pure.

“Or, instead of breaking into a police station, we remain on the beach and just relax. Sleep and let the sun work wonders on tensed up healers and CEOs.” The healer shuffled around in her seat. “I much more prefer that. Less violence, more party science.”
