Not Specializing

I've been thinking about Jeela and her arc and where I want her story to go, when I realized something. Currently, I have her as a member of the Guardians, but that doesn't really suit her. She isn't combat focused and only does it when there aren't other options, which tends to happen fairly regularly on this board for some reason. Seer doesn't fit her, and she's willing to fight a touch more than suits a healer. She doesn't have the tact for a diplomat or sensitivity for a consular.

Since how I envisioned her as someone who travelled alone, bringing healing when needed, a lightsaber when needed, a negotiator when needed, etc. Basically, she was supposed to be a jack of all trades and master of none.

Hat brings me to the point of this. Is it possible to not specialize in anything and instead working on knowing a bit of everything?

Unsure how to answer the lack of specialisation but what you're sort of sounds like a Jedi Sentinel as most Sentinels operate by themselves with a wide variety of skills, including non-forced based abilities.

That sounds like a Jedi Sentinel. Although there are even more specializations following this route, this class of Jedi are the more balanced ones and often use skills not related to the Force. They're pretty much jacks of all trades and master in none, unless they choose to differentiate themselves from the others.

Also, as [member="Jora Vao"] stated, they operated alone or in very small groups for long periods of time. Take the Jedi Watchmen for example. Yoda was a Jedi Watchman for a period of time and he watched over Kashyyyk for a long time, which was why he and the Wookies had such a close relationship.

Hmm. Interesting. From playing The Old Republic, I got the idea that they were more of stealthy agents, sort of the Light Side version of the assassins. It seems there are much more to them than I previously thought.

They do sound very similar to what I had in mind, although I was basing her more off movie canon, which didn't have all the specializations that grew out of the video games.

Thanks for that. Sentinel does look like a pretty good description of something similar to wha
To my vision for her would be. Not sure about the investigators though. It's definitely something to keep n mind though

Also [member="Jeela Tillian "]Iella does not really specialise in any thing and well... :p look where she is today. :D

She has strong powers in some areas, but I deliberately play her down on power, as she came to the force at 26. So in 'reality', she could never be a power house. That would be just silly in my eyes. But she has a good brain in her head so that has held well for her.

I would not worry about specialising, but if you need a group to have fun with then yes the new group might work for you.

That is what Matsu Ike is, she uses her family trait of comprehension and memory enhancement to augment eidetic memory and doesn't specialize but she knows through methods and knowledge and a price (her body deteriorating to the point she needs the force to move it).

Still a jack of all trades can be powerful in what they know. Saki is physical enhancement with a strong grounding to the earth. She trandlastes all that pent up energy into quakes and shaping while wielding large hammers or throwing weights on chains around.

Side note Syn is 860 almost and he dabbles into different pools of the force but is mostly offensive while

Tricia is 27,000 years old and so specialized with telekinetic powers she actually can't physically hold a saber anymore..... but she and Siobhan can throw AT-AT walkers at each other as TK gods.

Shinju is a master of absorbing tot he point she doesn't just use tutaminis she takes in nearly all forms of energy and recharges her own self. Excess energy she can use to fuel powers like deadly sight, lightning or spears of midnight black.

Matsu as previously said is a mental titan with few matching her for what she can know and remember in terms of force secrets.

Balaya is a powerhouse physically but uses alchemy and sorcery more while her own physical form provides her power.

Sarianna when I had her as a master on other boards was terrible in the force but she could fight with weapons and forms like it was no problem and then in battles battle meditate.

I have several more I am working on to get back up to proper master ranks and they all have built skills. Not specializing can open up many oppertunities and be just as strong as not.

Well I started the same way you did. And now that I am a Master, I have to rely more on my saber and NF skills more than my Force skills as I have less of those. But they all work in conjunction with another to make a "jack" character.

A leader in a major faction? I better specialize then to avoid that fate. ;)
Thanks for that information. It definitely makes sense, and being a sentinel for the group could definitely be the right place for her.

That at all makes sense to me. I'll keep that in mind.

Fair point. They all do work together in various ways for that to happen.
