Modularity: None
Production: Semi-Unique
Material(s): Chromium, Durasteel, Agrinium, Absorbital, Electronics Parts

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Classification: Small Ship-scale General Warhead Launcher
Size: Average
Weight: Average
Ammunition Type: Projectiles
Ammunition Capacity: 2/4
Reload Speed: Slow
Effective Range: Battlefield
Rate of Fire: Low
Stopping Power: Very High
Recoil: Low

SPECIAL FEATURES:
  • Internal shielded quick-change rotating interchangeable drum prevents sympathetic detonation, and enables the user to change between various munitions types rapidly.
  • Can be mounted unobtrusively into most any ship design, size, class, or configuration.
  • Can accommodate four assault or advanced concussion missiles or else two proton rockets, offering variable munition types. Further, various types of the aforementioned munitions can be used as well.
  • Uses special electromagnetic propulsion, similar to rail guns, to propel projectiles through tube, creating extreme velocity.
STRENGTHS:
  • Serious Power: Specially-designed launcher uses rail gun technology to achieve blistering speeds for the projectile, thereby increasing maximum effective range and kinetic damage offered by most munitions types.
  • Variety is the Spice of Life: Allows variable munitions types, meaning it can use assault or advanced concussions missiles or similar ordinance types, or else proton rockets and similar ordinance types.
  • Magazine Safe: Interchangeable drums are shielded against blaster fire, EMP/Ion, kinetic damage, and resistant to communications signals and radiation to prevent sympathetic and premature detonation.
WEAKNESSES:
  • It’s Gonna Take a Minute to Go Again: Electromagnetic firing system requires a few seconds to recharge, making firing rates notably lower than other launchers using methods of firing.
  • It Ain’t Much and When It’s Gone, It’s Gone: Limited capacity means each launcher can hold at most four concussion missiles or two proton rockets (or similar types of munitions) and cannot be reloaded or renewed except by conventional deck crews or combat utility vehicles. This makes prolonged combat and intense engagements against larger and better-armed vessels unlikely for success, particularly if not otherwise well-armed or without additional ships for support.
  • Not Everything Works: Ordinance types are limited to those discussed, i.e. concussion missiles and proton rockets (or similar types) and cannot accommodate bombs, torpedoes, rockets, etc. which do not closely match these types. It’s not possible to refit the launchers and/or drums for weapons like shadow bombs and the like.
DESCRIPTION:
The philosophy and even the technology behind the Nydhogg Launcher is neither particularly rare nor innovative. Rail-Gun technology was nothing new, and launchers using it were not either. Multi-ordinance and general-purpose launchers were pretty standard. Drum magazines, shielded and interchangeable, allowing selective firing were not uncommon. But the coming together of these technologies into a powerful, compact, and easily-adapted weapons, able to be fit on most any size, class, or configuration of vessel, endowing them with a reliable, time-tested, and potent weapon system that could be counted on to hit the enemy hard and at a solid distance with any of a variety of munitions with deadly accuracy across a battlespace. This is the advantage of the Nydhogg: Durable, reliable, tough, and accurate with a further distance than many rival systems. It might not be anything special but it is everything a captain needs in a fight! The ideal weapon to break contact, to disable or destroy a smaller-sized enemy ship, or even to make a precision hit to disable or stun a larger enemy vessel, buying time for an escape. It has only a few rounds, but those it has it can use to their maximum potential, having the potential of dealing considerable and extensive damage to anything smaller than a frigate, and of bloodying the nose of larger ships. It has resistance to most every common threat or risk encountered in a fight, and wields an accuracy and range far superior to rival weapons, making it ideally suited for smaller ships not wishing to go beneath the heavy guns of big ships or put themselves into harm’s way by maneuvering closer and becoming more exposed to counter-attacks.

You seem to be coming in fairly high in the ratings on this one. I recommend doing a few tweaks to bring it back under check.
