SPECIAL FEATURES
- Fast reactive rerouting of engine power: To perform emergency maneuvring, the fuel rerouting system allows to partially starve the main engines of fuel and reroute the required energy towards the installed thruster systems to effectively slow down the vessel immediately in favor of high maneuvrability.
- FAE/S-05 ECM Array: While designed as an electronic warfare suite, this package also has the advantage of broadly protecting the internal electronic systems and improving the communication of each electronic part thanks to its focus on operational stability and efficiency.
- FAE/S-01 "Pentozali" Agility Array : Meant to further improve any maneuvrability after a forced rerouting of the energy of the main engines.
- Counter to NZ SLAB: Where the SLAB and other SLAM add-ons focus on speed over maneuvrability, the AIMS focuses on maneuvrability over speed, allowing for the vessel utilizing this add on, to reduce its speed by up to two ratings, while increasing the maneuvrability with up to two ratings [in equal meassure]
- Greatly improves maneuvrability: Combined with the simplicity of the system and the ease of use, the AIMS-01 allows for even the most sluggish and cumbersome of vessels to attain adequate to even excellent maneuvrability when it counts.
- Compact: The entire add-on's design is compact and lightweight, thus having little to no overall effect on the vessel's weight or size when utilizing this piece of technology.
- Thermal efficiency: Excess heat is being rerouted and sprayed across the surface of the vessel to ensure minimal effect, but also to improve the aerodynamics of the vessel and its lateral, horizontal and vertical movement.
- Engine power: To optimally utilize this add on, engine power and thus base speed of the vessel needs to be of the Average or higher rating, considering utilizing the AIMS at max potential (two ratings) would have the possibility of effectively shut down the vessel when its speed rating is lower than Average.
- May cause stress: Ships not designed to maneuvre, will always endure a lot of stress on their structure and materials when they perform beyond their limit.
- EMP: Since this is mostly an electronic system, it can be subject to EMP.
When the N&Z EnSol engineers created their own improved version over the SLAM system, they came to the realization that if a ship would have variable speed at the cost of overall maneuvrability, the opposite could also be achieved by rerouting the energy of the engines and utilize a system of aerodynamic add ons and a system of thrusters and vectors to force a vessel to twist and turn far beyond what it originally would or could.
The first few prototypes were focused on aero parts, such as flaps and rudders, allowing for much higher directional mobility, but this was not enough when the engines weregoing full throttle. Thus the engineers designed an additional system to both cut off an engine's fuel and power partially by rerouting it to additional thrusters and nozzles that could force the vessel on which this system was installed to have a smaller turning circle, and a much higher omnidirectional maneuvrability as a result.
It was however discorvered that to fully have this system grant its advantages, the vessel or ship on which it is installed would need to have a bare minimum of power and speed to begin with, meaning that vessels with an already exceedingly low mobility would not be capable of benefitting all that much if at all from this system.
