- Full Automation: Allowing the AI to run both the standard day to day systems and navigations, but also callibrate weapons and shields unless ordered otherwise, makes it so response times to commands are shortened drastically in combat situations or any situation in general, it also makes for a lower number of required personel to have a properly functional vessel operating at peak functionality compared to semi-autonomous or semi-automated systems.
- Supreme aerial combatant: The combination of high speed and maneuvrability, each capable of temporary reaching insane numbers in both speed and G's allows for this vessel to outclass quite a lot of ships in its own class in terms of speed and maneuvrability, but it may even shock some ordinarily smaller and more nimble vessels when compared to them, ad to this the fact these quite large Aquilla I-Class RSC's have a combination of two stealth systems to make it even easier for this beast to swoop down on its prey.
- Extremes: Through smart packaging and maximized efforts to use the space given by the design, this ship not only boasts an insane level of defense comparable to ships of a much higher class, but also boasts a nearly unmatched loading capacity for both ships, personel and cargo.
- Sunken Command Deck: Efforts have been made to fully integrate the command deck into the superstructure of this vessel, making it much harder to just wipe out command in a single stroke, especially with the auxialiary bridge capable of running the ship without the primary bridge.
- Sleek Profile: The sleek profile of this vessel makes it harder to spot from a distance and allows the stealth systems to be more effective, especially thanks to the organically integrated design shapes. It also allows for the ship to simply look much smaller through the eyes of radar and sensors...except for sensors like the ship's own MTS "Bloodhound"
- Full Automation: While insanely practical, full automations has its drawbacks, as should the AI handling all the systems be terminated or incapacitated, the usual minimum crew would be too small a number to actually maintain the ship's functionality, let alone get anywhere, while the optimal crew number would hardly be enough to be called a skeleton crew.
- Unusual shape: The unusual shape for a star destroyer class vessel makes it harder to asses the ship's actual height, length and width, thus needing a team of seasoned pilots to fly this thing, especially from docks, shipyards and other moments of stationary status, since decoupling, disconnecting and launch are still not part of the AI's program and thus must be handled manually by 'again' seasoned pilots.
- Weak spots: There is no ship without weak spots, in this ship's case, the lower connecting structure between the outboard crescents and the superstructure are a weaker part of the ship's overal skeletal structure, which when compromised, would effectively put all the structural stress and loadbearing on the much stronger upper connections to the crescent wings.
- Exposed engines: At the very least two of the Hermes engine exhaust ports are located somewhat awkwardly just underneath the primary plating of the ship and thus do not have the secondary plating, which when the shields are down may be used as a way to severely hamper the ship's speed should these engines be taken out of commision.
The Aquilla I class Rapid Star Carrier or RSC was originally intended to be a large, swift space cruise liner, but when this design came up to the tables of the engineers of the shipyards, feelers were spread out far and wide to see if there was perhaps not a market for a very smartly designed and engineered command ship which rather than relying on insane fire power, would rather act like a stealth bird. To be simply put, to actively have a large star destroyer class ship utilize the tactics of an interceptor starfighter, this was the goal the engineers suddenly had in mind when looking at the designs that were ment to be for a large super yacht or cruise liner.
They pulled out all the stops, chosing the best materials they could gather, utilizing the Tiber-II/LM platform as the basis to work around, building a Matrix ARmor - Trimantium hull which combined with the tunqstoid steel reinforced ersteel SLCA skeletal structure would form the robust basis on which the design could be completed. Where the original design had more squared off "wings" though, more in line with the old imperial design aesthetics, an order from the top of the N&Z Umbrella Corp had been given to allow for some Quarren and Mon Cala designers to smooth out the profile and make it sleeker, which coincidentally worked better with the proposed integration of stealth systems.
When all was said and done, a test was conducted near the Deinon STS station at Chandaar, where the station's Imperial and On board security was unaware of the ship's presence only until it was up close, upon revealing itself though, there were some...issues in regarding to the N&Z having to explain itself to the empire's officials. However, this test did highlight the use of the ship's sleek aesthetic and more organic shape, allowing it to appear much smaller on radars and scanners, except on another MTS "bloodhound" unit which actually is capable of finding the ship through electromagnetic fields and thus have an idea of the ship's approximate gravitational impact and thus its weight, which would betray it's general and overall size to others.
Decked out with the best possible defenses, a care for good speed and maneuvrability and the smart packaging to allow for this ship to carry as much as ten starfighter wings and five support craft, the Aquilla is perhaps one of the most purposefully build and designed ships of the last generation...
