- Multilayered shielding: This shield system provides a multi layered shielding in the form of nine seperate shield layers, with two being semi-permanent, where the internal droid brain can adjust the shielding type to the correct choice depending on incoming ordinance and blasts, allowing for greater defense and functionality in general.
- Strong magnetic Field: With a multitude of components utilizing a magnetic field and generating it, this Shield system package has the advantage of having a perpetual magnetic field active, which in itself already reduces the possible damage from several types of weaponry due to the resistent force it exhibits.
- Optional Shielding: Because this system operates with multiple layers of shields, it can allow for up to six different types of shielding corresponding with the layers, but one could also opt for six layers of kinetic shielding or electromagnetic shielding, meaning depending on the situation, the effectiveness of the shield system could actually be increased. (This does not include the molecular shielding or the Xythan shielding)
- Rapid Shield Refreshing: While usually it would take anywhere between several minutes to even several hours to fully refresh a downed shield layer, the SSP-SEPTIMUS can refresh a shield layer while simultaniously keeping up the other layers in but a few minutes, forcing opponents to break through all the layers of the shield before the system can refresh.
- Optional Shielding II: Because of the optional shielding choice, when all layers each have a different type, their defensive effect will be depleted much faster and when a certain type is not used among the layers, it will mean the asset it is protecting would be vulnerable to the type that hasn't been utilized. For instance if all six layers are utilizing anti energy shields, kinetic damage is not being stopped by the shields. (This does not include the molecular shielding or the Xythan shielding)
- System burden: Due to the highly automated and electromagnetical nature of the shielding system, it can be a burden on ships and other assets that do not compensate for the larger drain on power cores and reactors in order to draw energy for the shielding. Ships that utilize the shielding but do not have enough power reserves while the shielding is active, may experience blackouts in different systems or a shut down of the shield system itself depending on the nature of the controls and operations of the asset.
- SIZE: This shield generator's overall size and weight limit it to strictly star destroyers and higher, though it CAN be utilized on land without such limitations.
To further enhance the N&Z's ship placements, the company sought to fully upgrade the original NZ SSP-SIXTUS shield package into their most complete and most advanced shield system to date. Allowing engineers of the company to come up with solutions, the change of base material in the form of Ersteel SLCA as core plating, with matrix armor rather than impervium to lower the overall weight of the reinforcements was the first they came up with, followed by replacing the old reactor unit with the less complex, yet still quite powerful C.H.A.R.M. reactor. Through adding more droid brains in a serial placement around the core droid brain, the engineers managed not only to improve the shield system's overall capacity, but also to expand its range and variety of shield types, with a xythan force shield and molecular shield now being the only two fixed-state shield layers that while able to be refreshed, are much harder to do so because of how the shield system mainly focuses on the seven interchangable layers.
The Shield system was originally meant to be used on the Dictator-III class battlecruisers, but a delay in the system's production made it so the SSP-SIXTUS took that role, while the kinks in the SEPTIMUS needed to be adressed. Eventually, the shield system was finally ready for production and would see its debut in some of the newest fourth generation ships of the company...
