“150 years of getting shot at for a living”
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The Dorneans were famous for holding off the might of the Galactic Empire during their reign of power. This was particularly impressive since all they had in their navy was a few dozen 90 meter long Braha'tok Gunships. They were outnumbered, outgunned, and outclassed. They only advantage they held was in their experience and their tactics.
The Dornean Navy didn't have much in the name of research and development at the time. They built decent ships, but nothing that had any mind-blowing specialized technologies. So they focused more on hit-and-run tactics, aggressive preemptive strikes, and efficient information networks. One way to maintain excellent situational awareness was to freely share information networks between ships. By sharing sensor data, Dornean sensor officers could quickly cross-reference readings and find inconsistencies to discern truth from false information.
In many cases, officers would use droids to write algorithms that allowed for quicker analysis and get faster results. Unfortunately, each officer would make their own custom software and it would rarely be interchangeable between command units. Their ability to live for centuries was to blame for this, since Dorneans would take ubiquity and consistency for granted, opting to rely more on experience and familiarity with their colleagues' "short-hand" instead.
When the Dornean refugees returned to their home world in the late 800s, they brought back a massive assortment of different ideas and technologies with them. Since Dornea had suffered heavily at the hands of the Bryn and various other tyrannical conquerors in recent years, the willingness to try new things was long overdue, and broadly welcomed.
One such change was to standardize and format the sensor software so that it could be used uniformly across the entire navy. By doing so, they were able to improve on it drastically, getting better results at practically instantaneous speeds.
With that, Dorneans proceeded to innovate in other, newer ways to improve their military capabilities. Since this software was an old concept, redressed for better efficiency, Dornean Navy command deemed it appropriate to sell it on the open market to better fund research on newer, more innovative projects.
- Intent:
- In Character:
- Create a software that enhances the quality of sensor readings by combining the data from multiple devices.
- Out Of Character:
- Create a simple software technology that can be implemented in thread to make Wookiepedia submissions more advanced on the fly without having to create whole new factory submissions.
- create a new technology that can be used in the creation of new factory submissions.

- Designed to counter things like anti-tracking and ECM asset spoofing by cross referencing sensor data between multiple detection systems.
- Sensor data is then cross-referenced to identify inconsistencies and deduce which subjects are false and which are true.
- The ability to cross-examine the data from multiple sensory devices allows for extremely high resolution readings of scanned objects with a high degree of penetration.
- Ties into fire control systems to deliver what the software determines to be filtered and clear target data.
- Updates are regularly available on the holonet. This way, the software can remain relevant and keep pace with modernizing military technologies.
- The user interface is highly intuitive and adaptable. This is done so that the software can be easily downloaded and used quickly in combat. The UI has settings that can be quickly adjusted for different race physiologies or computer operating systems.
- Sees With Many Eyes - this software is used to combine sensor data to counteract tricky systems such as ECM asset spoofing and anti-tracking jamming.
- A Good Old Cavity Search - By cross examining sensor readings from multiple devices, this software can map out extremely high resolution readings of the subjects being scanned with a high degree of penetration.
- Insufficient Data - the less detection devices that are feeding this software data, the less effective it is. Incidentally, one detection device by itself is incapable of feeding this software enough information to add any benefits at all.
- Stealth - unless this software is being used on actual anti-stealth detection devices such as crystal gravfield traps, it is incapable of aiding the detection of properly cloaked systems, such as stygium stealth systems and cloaking devices.
