Obligations of the Light

Arkania, long ago in the distant past it was a planet held by the Jedi, a Praxeum headed by a legendary Master of the order having even once been placed there. Suffice to say the Jedi had a deep connection to the planet, it having even been under the New Republics influence when they still stood. Now... The New Republic was gone, almost in the blink of an eye they seemed to vanish taking with them structure, stability, and order. Everything in which the people of Arkania had come to rely on had been snatched from beneath their feet like a rug. They were left directionless, lambs to the slaughter as the darker thoughts of man finally reared to the surface.

Standing atop a high mountain, dressed in his armor which covered most of his form except his forearms. Most would've shivered in the face of such brutal weather or hid beneath a thick cloack. Li however was unaffected by the snow, by the cold that sought to seep deep into his body, yet the jedi fought it off. Radiating heat far above that of a normal individual, part of his training. Looking down he saw the city of Adascopolis many of the buildings alight in flame. The city running rampant with Chaos, even standing so high up the young Jedi could feel the emotions of those below attempting to weigh on his mind. There was pain, confusion, violence in massive amounts as what had once been the shining star of Arkania was torn asunder in the wake of the New Republic's collapse.

Breath visible Li sighed outwardly a stray tear retreating down the Jedi's cheek as he watched Order die and Chaos rise to the surface. This was what the Jedi were meant to prevent yet at every turn the Dark sought to corrupt or destroy them. "How could such a thing happen?" Li asked the two accompanying him. These other two understood Li more than any other in the galaxy. The pain the young Jedi felt was seeing the downfall of yet another city much like his home city on Atrisia was destroyed by the Dark. "How can we just stand by and allow this to keep happening?"

A hand rested on the young atrisians should. Cold to the touch. Metal fingers closed as if taking hold of the young man in his moment of serene observation. It was a sober one at that. It was true though. Arkania was once under the care and protection of the Jedi order in some point of time and through the years it fell apart. Time and pressure was all it took at bring people together and apart. Time was the menace that could take down entire empires and reconstruct them. Time. For Kreus time was a new concept. The b'rknaa species knew not of time nor fancied any system that gauge to span of life. Life was life. It comes and goes and repeats in its cycle. Even so watching the unjustice unfold down below was perhaps the only thing Kreus could agree on was wrong.

Removing the hand and now standing side to side by the boy, Kreus paused turning his head downward to the masses below. His entire body was not that of flesh but instead metal. A droid in essence but very different. A light shined from within this yellow painted machine that set it part from all else. A soul. " Injustice." Vocal enhancers responded with a voice at first mimicking Li's but then soon began to deepen and change. It was cold sounding, almost as cold as the metal exterior. " This vessel see's injustice. Failure. Past groups lacked the will to act apon ..." He paused thinking of a word. " conviction? We believe its called." Kreus spoke oddly. It was something to get used to. The B'rknaa were all linked as a species to a hive mind. A single member therefore represented the entire species and had instantaneous access to hundreds and thousands of years of memories, wisdom and knowledge.

" What can we do to prevent it. What would you have done?"

Cold and a frozen place. A home of My fathers. Yet he lives on Midvinter with my mother. Enjoying their Retirement as much as they can. Staying out of the Light of the Galaxy. They have had their time among the stars. Faintly, I remember stories of my father. Teaching me about how his Mother was an Arkanian. Part of my blood belonged here. However, the New Republic that had once given a foundation to a planet known for falling into dismay, has since vanished over the span of mere weeks. It was with this news, I intended to return to my home away from home. Grabbing all that was of value to my family, and leaving.

However, something had piqued my interests. Moreover, someone. Force Sensitives that were still upon the planet. Strong enough and just light sided, that they may be silent wardens of the planet. I neared them. Keeping some distance when a male near human spoke. Asking how could a planet fall apart to such dismay. How could a place filled with the white and blue beauty of snow and ice become in such disarray?

Tongue held tightly as the bright yellow individual spoke. Metallic crackling of the voice to answer with what was very much so. However, I feared they seemed to lack the bigger picture. If a single planet could fall so quickly to so little, what would they think of the planets that had fallen under rules of Empires, and Imperiums that bred and fed off of the Dark side? How broken would they fall should they learn of the darkest of truths?

"One of hundreds fall, but fall all the same they will."

Standing up and presenting myself, I merely spoke. Young men who these seemed to be. Curious of what was life before this.

"The New Republic shant be the first, or the last to crumble. Many more before, and many more after. Yet try and try do you Jedi. Seeking out the brightest of stars, even when found wanting, and oft reaching for a simple straw."
