Kuat Drive Yards maintained a steady income even after Hadleigh's withdraw from public life.
People wondered where she was, why she left, and when--or if--she would return. Already the board of directors were well at work in shifting paradigms, and soon Hadleigh's position would amount to little more than ceremonial irrelevance with pay. So she took matters into her own hand, and invited an old business acquaintance to her retreat.
Hadleigh sat in the hydroponics lab, reviewing the latest data on a new strain of medicinal plant matter. Once her guest had arrived, they would be escorted into the building and shown the way to where Hadleigh was.
The structure itself was a mixture of comforts and professionalism. It was as much a remote headquarters as it was a manor, perhaps leaning a bit more towards the former than the latter.
Clearly wherever she went, work followed.
