Odessa's Mother gave birth to her on the edge of a murky bog, where putrid smells clung in the air as if they were asked to bear witness to the occasion. During the birth, her Mother had passed away from complications during the delivery; but was adopted by all the Nightsisters of the Nardithi Coven. There, amongst the guiding hands and harsh lectures, Odessa began taking her first steps toward what Fate had planned for her future.
Young Odessa struggled latching on to combat with its fighting tactics and styles, but excelled in the mystic arts of Dathomirian magic, witchcraft, and the Force. Quickly she cast away the warrior mentality, focusing all her attention on magic and spells, seeking to master them and look to expand on the witchy spells.
She adapted the basics of the Force such as Force sense, telekinesis, and the occasional mind trick. It was the spells of the Dathomir witches she craved; researching, studying, and spell weaving.
During one of her self imposed practice sessions in the same big she was born, and her Mother had died, she was struck with tragedy. Odessa was attacked by a pack of Dathomirian Night Stalkers, nearly escaping but not without being bitten. The hemotoxin venom in the saliva began weaving through her body, shutting down her heart, leading her by the hand to the grave. But the grave could not have her.
A ritual was conducted where Spirit ichor was infused into a briar, which held a magical spell known as Chant of Resurrection, and placed in Odessa's body; where her dead heart once rested. The effect was a surprise to all.
Odessa was, in theory, dead yet undead. She maintained all her faculities and memories. Her eyes, a product of the ritual and infusion of her briar heart, now held a green illuminated glow, and everytime she talked, small green wisps of smoke expelled. She also stopped aging, though she grew in age only. Because she was undead, she was no longer molested by the same things the living suffered such as growing cold or hot, pain, diseases and such.
However, her hunger was slightly elevated at death but she no longer craved food and drinks as the living did. She craved flesh, only in small cuts and flanks. And to sate her thirst, she drank whatever she wanted; for in her undead state she no longer possessed living taste buds.
