Colette

Ryana sat there in the cockpit of her jedi transport colette was with her they where sent on a mission to new covenant there where some animals in need of help that where not where they where supposed to be. And given ryanas and colettes natural affinity for animals they where asked to help deal with the scenario luckily Connel Vanagor was around when ryana was asked so she asked him to watch pip for her so she could focus on the mission. Instead of dealing with both pip and the natural habitat of the planet they where going to. She felt bad for her master though she knew how rowdy pip and buster got together and knew connel would have his hands full with the duo. As ryana brought the ship out of hyperspace she started the decent "have you been told anything else about the mission" she asked colette as ryana sat there piloting the freighter to ground.

Colette had been pale during their trip, but space travel and her were old rivals at this point. She just had to make sure she kept the nausea in check and she would be good. She shook her head at Ryana's question.

"Standard animal control." She said and looked out the glass and gripped at the edge of her seat as they began to descend. "They need help keeping the animals back, retreat from society a little. Should be pretty calm, other than the animals, of course."

Colette looked at Ryana.

"You done something like this before?"

Ryana chuckled as colette asked if she had experience wrangling animals "remind me let you babysit my pet pip and my masters dog buster for a couple hours" she said as they descended towards the planet knowing colette would have her hands full new covenant temple within view. As ryana prepared to land she had noted colettes paler skin tone the twi'lek had tried her best to make sure the trip was as comfortable as possible for colette plus it was good for ryana to have a break from pip for a while. As she sat there.

'Well let's hope it's nothing to serious then" she said as they landed as softly as ryana could manage especially given the size of the ship. "I have some anti nausea medicine in the medical room if you want me to get you some" she offered colette as she turned to her fellow padawan.

"I'm good, thanks." Colette nodded to show her appreciation for the gesture. "It's just motion sickness. It'll go away once we land."

New Cov itself was familiar, it was where Colette's family had their home after all, but a planet wasn't a small thing. There existed more communities than just the one they would land at.

"The creatures on New Cov are territorial, but I've handled them before. You just have to speak their language and you'll gain their respect." She shrugged. "That's not a problem, is it?"

Ryana stood up as she just landed the ship as she was going through last checks to make sure the ship made it in one piece for the first stop "that's up to you the offer still remains" she said as she looked out of the viewport to the Forrest in view. As she turned to colette listening to her "i understand what they mean and they seem to understand me in turn but I'm not fully trained in the art of talking to them so from here here I'll let you take the lead" she said. She was fluent enough but she wasn't familiar enough with new covenant to take charge as she looked at the holomap they where given. As she looked over the locations as needed "If needed i will stand my ground if needed to gain the respect of any animal the i need to" she said.

"So that's why they chose both of us." Colette mused as she descended the loading ramp. "I can't talk, but I understand. Just like you." She nodded. "I find that a lot of people make animals to be more than they are, y'know? But in reality they're just raw impulses without much thought. At least not other than survival."

"As a child I was taught that's what separates us from them, y'know? We can think on another level, we can… Think about tomorrow, right? An animal thinks only about what they need in that moment, and that's how you outsmart it."

"What's the most intense experience you've had with a creature like that?"

"I find animals have personality even if nature dictates their instincts help them stay alive if you view them long enough you will see their true personality shine through" she said honestly. The view was based on her time since she joined the jedi she didn't a huge amount of experience with animals on nar shadaa besides the caged exotic animals that the cartels brought through.

"True that animals don't have the cognitive abilities like we do but they should still be respected alot of animals are stronger than we are or faster so while we are smarter respect or atleast caution is still due" she said. As she walked with colette she thought about colettes last question "back on nar shaddaa before I was brought into the jedi I was almost fed to a rancor but managed to calm it through talking to it" she said.

"I mean… I guess?" Colette shrugged. "I'm not saying animals don't deserve respect, I am saying they're dumber than us."

"My first experience was here on New Cov, actually." She added once Ryana spoke of her experience with the rancor. "Me and Valery were walking just outside the temple when a curious bhal'ir approached. Valery was pretty scared but I showed it the respect it deserved as king of these hills, and then it let me scratch it's ear before going back into the forest."

As ryana walked with colette she listened to colette speak about the bhal'ir and her history on the planet "hopefully our mission will be as simple as our first go at talking to animals" she said hopefully getting the joke across. As they walked she would wonder if this was the only reason she was chosen because of her ability to talk to animals. Although she was glad to go on missions without her master and socialize with other padawans "do you know how to get where we are going because I'm not completely sure" she said looking at colette.
