The Unknown Regions
A single ship hurtled through the star-flecked darkness, its destination looming just ahead in swirls of white and blue. Long had this world been lost to the wider galaxy, left on its lonesome to spin endlessly in the void; untouched by sentient hands. It wasn't until the servants of Carnifex, then known as Vornskr, had come across the world in their extensive sweeps of the Unknown Regions for the One Sith Empire.
Many worlds, once lost, had been rediscovered by the minions of the Butcher King.
He now traveled there under minimal escort, the only company he carried was that of his apprentice and a small cadre of Crownguard. A small outpost had been constructed on the planet's equator, a foreign spire of cold steel that rose from the ice and rock as if reaching to grasp the heavens. The shuttle dipped down through the cloud-wreathed atmosphere on a gradual approach to the citadel, where they transmitted the clearance code and proceeded to land on the platform jutting out from the spire's northern face.
The boarding ramp descended, and out from the gloom emerged Carnifex flanked by two Crownguard and trailed by [member="Nisha Skaiyr"]. They were greeted by an officer in a cream-colored tunic, who quickly bid them enter was a subservient bow. The interior of the structure was as spartan as its outer walls, there was no decoration to be found in any chamber they passed save for various equipment used to monitor the building and regulate the temperature against the frigid weather outside. The officer led them to what appeared to be central command, occupied by a dozen or so similarly dressed officers whose faces were glued to monitors displaying scrawling technical readouts of various data.
Carnifex took dominant position at the center of the room, all eyes rising to his indomitable form as he addressed them all. "Long has it been since we first set foot on this desolate world, and long have I sought a reason for its existence. But now I see with true clarity." He extended a finger to point at Nisha, "This world shall test you, apprentice. You have known the wonders of the jungle all of your life, and now you will taste the bitter cold of snow and ice." He hadn't bothered to elaborate on his reasoning for dragging her along with him all the way from Panatha to this isolated venue, but now the truth was known.
