Special Features: Extremely long range, excellent armor piercing capabilities, straight pull bolt works in conjunction with rotating locking lug to shorten the considerable distance required to cycle the weapon, inertial damper dramatically reduces felt recoil. Lighter and capable of higher rates of fire than its predecessor, at the expense of raw power.
Description: Much like how the GRTD took the lessons learned from Gertrude and applied them to a weapon for the masses, the OL-2 does the same thing for Olga. Whereas Olga is a punishing brute that only the most skilled and dedicated marksmen could hope to use effectively, the OL-2 is a much more forgiving beast.
Instead of using the hybrid blaster cartridges of Olga, the OL-2 uses the proprietary high explosives propelled rounds first used by the GRTD. This scarifies raw power for reduced recoil and a dramatic increase in rate of fire. Though the OL-2 uses the same bolt action as before, the smaller cartridge means a shorter pull, and also means the inertial damper doesn't have to work nearly as hard to compensate for the extreme forces generated upon firing. Thus, the shooter may fire as fast as they can cycle the bolt.
This also allowed for Rusty to dramatically lighten the weapon, as it didn't have to stand up to the stress of the beastly original rounds. High strength alusteel is used where possible to save weight, and because the action doesn't have to be as long, the weapon could be shortened as well. A slightly shorter barrel was used, one that is not at risk of burning out in the foreseeable future.
Though the reduced power of the cartridge allows the inertial damper to soak up more of the recoil proportionately, the lighter weight means that there's still plenty transmitted to the shooter. Firing the OL-2 is comparable to firing your average .50 caliber anti-materiel rifle.
