Cale's pushing 45, so he'd have been a youngling/Padawan before Ike headed to Alderaan, it'd be entirely possible maybe he bumped into Cale when he was on some trip from the Tython temple when young, maybe they knew one another? Ike could've been an older kid Cale looked up to or somethin. Idk how active Ike would've been in the One Sith years, but Cale's alleged 'betrayal' wouldn't have been a close kept secret or anything, so if you'd want for the two of them to have gone at it a couple times during those years, that'd work as well.
