Private Old meets New

Block, Deflect, Fire. Relax, focus, aim. Shan kept repeating that over and over again during his training as the drones buzzed around him, firing off various stun bolts in his direction as the Mirialan focused on his Soresu form, alongside the blaster in his opposite hand. His dislike of using weapons and fighting had slowly but surely faded during his time as a Padawan. It didn't mean that he would go out looking for fights, or wanted to fight. He was still a pacifist at heart, but now he knew he'd have to fight every so often. So making sure he actually trained his skills and didn't let them go to waste was high on his list of priorities. Slashing at the stun bolts before trusting in the Force as he swung the blaster he had been using for his training in the direction of one of the drones, letting out a flurry of blasts, knowing that at least one would probably hit the drone before making his way forward to slash at one of the drones. Though eventually a bolt managed to slip through his defence, causing Shan to crumble down to his knee. "Stop!" He cried out the command word to make the drones stop firing at him, so he could take a moment break.

He wandered off to the side of the training room, using the Force to pull a bottle of water to him. Normally Shan would pick the bottle up himself, but he wanted to get used to using the Force more and more often. Things were changing in the Galaxy and Shan needed to get used to changing how he acted as well. It was part of why he had moved onto more physical training as well, as opposed to staying in the archives, reading up on what he could. There were plenty of things he was going to need to read up on, with new species he was going to meet, alongside trying to learn more about the Sith and Mandalorian threats, in case he had to deal with them sooner than later. He just sipped at his water, making sure to keep himself hydrated after all of the training.

Watching what to him were the Younglings train, Julius thought over what Kahlil Noble Kahlil Noble and his wife Valery Noble Valery Noble had said regarding the Mandalorian conflict. To the side a young padawan stood gulping water, and Julius nodded as he stepped into the training circle. Most Jedi fought 3-4 remotes if a particularly skilled duelist. Julius had programmed all five available and a pair of his own. Seven was unheard of, and the younger ones murmured as the Battlemaster sat down cross-leged, spinning first one hilt then the other off his belt and into his hands, each one extended palm out and balancing a deactivated lightsaber hilt in the flat of his palm. Eyes closed, he regulated his breathing as the droids readied their protocols and programming.

Stripped from the waist up, void of armor, not a single drop of sweat marred the heavily tattooed Corellian. Rebellion tattoo, G.A.R unit insignias, Aing-Tii swirls in metallic silver. His body was lean and hard muscle and as much art as it was lethality. But he had not come here to show off. He had come here to gauge the response of those watching, in the hopes of finding a padawan, or at the very least someone he could teach.

Shan raised an eyebrow at the man coming in, tilting his head to the side as he sipped from his water. He returned the nod and prepared to watch, looking around at the seven remotes getting ready to get to work. Hm...Seven remotes at once? That might be an idea if he wanted to try and focus on just his Soresu work...It was harder for him to focus on both offense and defence with his blaster and saber work. His eyes went towards the two sabers, frowning in thought for a moment. Dual wielding lightsabers was never something that appealed to him, even though it might have opened up alternative ways for him to deal with a situation...but in his mind, his main saber and the blaster helped to keep him focused. He wanted to focus on them as opposed to branching out into too many fields.

He just took a sitting position against the wall to prepare to watch. Learning more about how people fight was going to be vital if he wants to figure out how to counter fighting styles in the future. He doubted there would be any big weaknesses he would be able to see during the practice, but it would help to see how they moved. He had yet to see a dual wielder in action, so this would help him learn more.

As the droids advanced, the young appearing Master sat, scarcely seeming to breathe, radiating calm and serenity. Suddenly one lunged in to attack, as one diagonal and behind him did the same. In what seemed a single breath of movement, the two droids sat in smoking heaps, one with a hole through it's head, with the one lightsaber humming, burnt into the side of the academy dueling arena wall, shutting off as it clattered to the floor. The other sat in his hands double-gripped and the size of a saber-pike suddenly, thanks to Echani molecular compression technology. Spinning into a series of somersaults from a resting pose with his leg extended high in the air as if he had activated and then kicked the discarded saber through the one droid's center processor that served as a 'head', the Green Jedi gained ground from his opponents.

As the other droids circled in, Julius went on the offensive, spinning the saber-pike in wide elliptical orbits around himself to gain ground. Suddenly slamming the butt of the pike down, he reached out his hand, and the saber flew to it as he cartwheeled forward towards the now ignited and flying object. Catching it and spinning low, the pike retracted to just a singular hilt with a slight hiss of songsteel, the ambient blue glow from the metal almost as much of a show-off as the flashy Vapaad moves he used. Darron might have even scolded him at the display, but he landed crouched at a low ready, blades extended down diagonally with a flick of both wrists, rolling said joints to snap the tips forward aggressively and halt one droid in the midst of it's advance, baleful red eye clicking and whirring in mechanical consideration at the fact that the Jedi has just summoned his blade through one of it's compatriots and now there were only four droids remaining, without a scratch or drop of sweat on the tattooed Guardian.

The droids hesitated for perhaps the first time some of the students might have seen them do so. Cogitators and processors on each were loaded to study and counter almost every style of lightsaber combat. But Vapaad and Juyo, the 7th form, were erratic and dangerously passionate, as the Corellian was putting on display. Rising he began striding forward, one tip of a saber almost dragging the floor as it sank to his side and away and behind him, almost arrogantly, as he extended the glowing blue-silver hilt to point the blade at his opponents as if to say 'you are next' both green bars of light humming harshly to accentuate the threat.

It was hard for Shan to keep his eyes on the man's performance. They were moving faster than he could actually take in but Shan was going to do his best, folding his arms along his front. Whilst some of the other students might have seemed intimidated or entranced by the performance, Shan was neither. He was purely curious about it all. He had never thought about kicking his saber, nor really throwing it. In his eyes, if he threw his saber, that would be his source of defence gone. Hm...The idea of having dual lightsabers was starting to seem more and more appealing to the Mirialan, even if he wasn't much of a duellist, having a spare lightsaber to use for throwing could be useful. It always helps to have a spare saber at the end of the day as he frowned in thought. Perhaps he should try to start getting the materials for a spare lightsaber...Hm...It would definitely be a great idea in his mind though he shook his head, trying to keep his attention back on the man performing in front of the students.

The Saber Pike was also an interesting concept but the Mirialan would never even imagine trying to use one of those. He wasn't much of a fighter or a duellist in the first place, so focusing on more offensive based weapons instead of something that has utility to it would be quite...problematic for Shan. Perhaps he should try to make a saber that he'd be able to pull off tricks with, in a similar style to the man he was watching. Hm...Shan didn't have the strength or precision to be throwing his saber around or kicking it accurately, but if he had something like a dual-phase saber, he could try to rely on using his intelligence and trying to catch people by surprise instead of relying on strength. He'd also need to incorporate the Force more into his moves, watching the man's performance. It was able to even scare the droids which made Shan even more curious as he linked his hands together.

The lightsaber style was far too violent for something Shan would like doing. He was far more a fan of the defensive style of Soresu. Perhaps Ataru would be an offensive style he could mix into his skill set, but that would require a lot more training to build up his stamina. He was able to be patient and outlast some opponents in a battle of attrition but if he included Ataru into the mix, he'd end up tiring himself out quite quickly. Hm...Would Makashi work as an option? No. No. He wasn't much of a duellist and the specific footwork wouldn't be suitable for him...Though he did like to disarm people when he fought them as opposed to outright killing him...Hm...The stranger's performance was giving Shan plenty to think about in the style of combat and what he could include.

It took only moments more, the movements too blurred and quick to really see what he was doing before the droids lay in sparking heaps. A knight stepped forward, activating a training saber and flashing a formal salute. Julius grinned, thumbing the power down on both his sabers, and merely assumed a forked sort of crouched-ready, one hand almost scraping the floor and the other arcing down from over his head, the tips of the ignited sabers almost touching.

There was a heartbeat of rest, as everyone seemed to stop what they were doing and hone in. A few of the elder Jedi had put together the clues of who he was, between the green robes and techniques and the distinctive saber types and fighting style. They shook their heads in wonderment, and not a one of them stepped to, and more than a few under the tutelage of those who had pieced together the identity of the "Green Devil of Corellia" and didn't warrant lessons being that needed.

As the junior combatant stepped forward in a lunging run, he thrust into air. Julius simply wasn't there. He was, then he wasn't, the air seeming to ripple around him and shift, appearing behind the younger and stabbing forward with both sabers in a pincer motion, the stunning blows hitting squarely in the small of his opponent's back. Anatomically speaking he had hit the exact point on the nerves that branched out to control the legs, a fact seen in a moment after his strike when his opponent's stumbling steps from over-thrusting his mark became wobble-legged and he then collapsed.

Julius sat cross-legged again without a word or reaction, closing his eyes and waiting for the next person to call out or step forward.
