Once renowned for his martial skill, he retired from the battlefield when the Sith threat was thought vanquished. He is deeply distrustful of any who dabble in the dark side.

Appearance
Omai is an aging human old Jedi Master. He wears his long hair in a tight braid. He keeps his beard, dark grey with white flecks, cut long but neatly. Despite his age he is a tall, broad shouldered man. He has angular, hawkish features. Often this gives him the appearance of carefully watching and judging his surroundings. It's notable that when he breaks a smile, that on those rare occasions his features soften remarkably.
Personality
Dry and subtle sense of humor
Having known the battlefield for more years than he cares to count, Omai can often show a dry sense of humor often reserved for emergency medical services and similarly gloomy occupation. While the Sith and Darksiders are an ever present threat and no joking matter, it doesn’t prevent him from making a joke out of it nonetheless.There are precious few things that can offend Omai Rhen. However, given his capacity for stoicism, his jokes can often go missed due to his ability to present as such without proper tone inflection. They tend to be reserved for those who have known him for a long time and struggling padawans who he feels need to see a lighter side of him to encourage them.

Caring
Despite his rough exterior, looking ten years older than his actual age, Omai Rhen is as caring as someone could be with his experience and past. Not unlike the Grandfather that spoils the child, Omai prefers to spend his time in jovial spirit. Of course, he is entirely capable of assuming a more commanding and professional spirit, particularly when the matter of Sith is being discussed.
Rigid
Omai has a very select set of inwardly focused laws or rules, though he sticks very thoroughly to the mantra of the Jedi Code. While he is often quick to forgive, he never truly forgets. Such rules include not using the darkside of the force, not endangering people unnecessarily, and not putting yourself before the purposes of the Galactic Alliance. Break these rules and forever find yourself within the suspicious crosshairs of the Grand Marshall. Some suspect that a more interesting and carefree youth than Omai has ever revealed may be behind this. Perhaps even a brush with the dark side of the Force itself.

Omai spent most of his life in the reactive shadow of the Jedi Order. Realizing the faults of this approach in what he considered too late in his life, Omai cast such methodology away, finding favor in pre-emptive strikes against the Dark Side. During his tenure within the Jedi Order, his memory was filled with the many defensive fronts imposed by the lightside. He promised, upon formation of the Galactic Alliance, that the tables would turn for the best. And this mentality is deeply ingrained and all other perceptions are either wrong or simple half measures. In his mind there can be no more retreat, no more concessions.
Beliefs
Omai is realistic in his approach and knows that things won’t change, if they change at all. He knows that just as he is set in his ways, others are as well. However, he fully believes that the darkside is an unnecessary component of the Force. The force can persist on acts of kindness and grace, entirely devoid of reckless greed and meaningless ambition.
He realizes the hypocrisy of this mentality because in order to wage battle, there must be two sides. For every wound inflicted upon the lightside, Omai has sworn to inflict double on the darkside and those who hurt the innocent. Omai will never perceive a victory on this front until all darkside factions and cults are dismantled. Realizing that this is an effort that will persist far beyond his lifetime, he has settled into the idea that this will be his last and most important responsibility. And he is comfortable with it.

Omai was once regarded, by the Jedi Order, as a master of the lightsaber combat. Noting for showing a high variance in the lightsaber form, Omai shows a preference for Form V, disinterested in the endurance of battle that comes with Form III. He believes that in every action, an opening is formed and must be exploited in order to quickly end conflict. He is incredibly wary of those who partake in the seventh form of lightsaber combat, as it draws far too much on the interest in combat, instead of its finality.
Omai has cultivated few abilities with regards to the force. Having focused largely on the battlefield, Omai is a natural with telekinetic combat and above average force speed. Additionally, some believe that his charismatic presence allows him to polarize his followers towards the cause, nearing masterful use of Battle Meditation.

Combat Function
His single minded determination manifests in a focus that few can rival in the face of battle. Few mental attacks can divert him from his course and he uses Force Light to blow away manifestations of the Dark Side. His understanding of dark side magic and alchemy is surprising broad and deep for one who is so averse to its nature.
Omai is a technically disciplined swordsman, capable at absorbing even a the most aggressive, ambitious offensive sabre routines.
His total immersion in the light side of the Force allows him to stretch out through time and space and read the flow of combat. Many physically superior opponents have been left bewildered when the wily old master manages to turn them at every opportunity and eventually put them in a corner.
A cautious enemy is most dangerous to Rhen. He is an honest fighter and sometimes prone to over extending himself, or using up his reserves too quickly. This all stems from his philosophy towards the Dark Side of the Force. One who fights defensively to learn his skills and undermine his abilities is most likely to bring him down.

History
The New Jedi Order, is the Jedi order of the Galactic Alliance. The NJO is headed by Grand Marshal Omai Rhen, a sixty-one year old Human Jedi master.
The Grand Marshall is the supreme authority within the NJO, his word his law and his will is done. Marshal Omai founded the Order to be quick and effective, and thus no Council sits beneath him. He is the one that makes the decisions and places the Order in the right direction to aid the Galactic Alliance. However, the Grand Marshal is not alone in his decision making and is often influenced and counselled by his Jedi Marshal's.
Few have ever been sure what drove him to form the New Jedi Order. Most believe it was the inability of the Republic Jedi order to mount an effective defence against the sith, but he rarely speaks of it. Over the course of several months he sought out light Jedi who had strayed from the Republic and Silver Orders. He gathered them on Sullust, where a battered Republic navy had fled. There he explained his determination to take the fight back to the Sith to ensure his gathered force as of one mind.
At Lujo he led the Jedi into a Sith temple. He held open the way for those to make an assault, showing great strength in keeping blast doors wide open with his mind. Failure at the first hurdle had always been a possibility, but for some time people close to Omai felt he had taken this personally. But his mission wasn't done. He coordinated several smaller assaults against One Sith positions. As the tide turned he was present when the New Jedi Order closed the dark side nexuses on Coruscant and drove the Sith into hiding. But he knows that this war is long from over. There are too many worlds open for the dark side to fester and grow. His mission is far from complete and age shows no sign of wearying him in his quest.
