On Campus Learning [Abaigeal E'ron]

The training courtyard on Voss was massive in order to suit the large amount of Silver Sanctum members that utilized it. Aris had recently arrived, no more than a week and he was still getting his ways around. This was the first time he had left his homeworld to learn and advance the blessing that was called the Force.

Donned in his usual light armor (sig) he sat cross legged trying to meditate. Aris had read that was what Jedi did for numerous reasons, mostly to harmonize their inner self. The Hellyn found it quite hard, the only place he found it easy to focus was when he was using his lightsaber in combat. Additionally, being surrounded by foreigners and hearing his native language was quite new and odd to him. It was his first time off-world.

Aris had been warmly welcomed to the Silver Sanctum Coalition and that he appreciated. They had immediately notified him that his lessons in the Force would start within a week. Two days later after arriving, he had been notified to come to the courtyard for his first lesson with a higher-ranked Force user. Aris was still trying to get to know more and more about the Coalition - its structure, hierarchy, and who was who. The latter was the hardest considering his quite introvert nature.

He inhaled deeply and exhaled, his thoughts flying all over the place. From his homeworld to his goal in life to his past and to the meeting that was hopefully soon to occur between him and the teacher.

There had been a recent intake of new Padawans into the Silver Temple, and Abaigeal had been asked to assist in their training. She was not looking forward to this, training others is not her forte but not because she did not want to, but rather she considered herself not up for the task. Although her first attempt had gone reasonably alright, one might have to ask Knight Sykes for that clarification, but was still new to this. Meditation and Telekinesis, that can't be too hard surely?

Abaigeal found her way to the Temple Courtyard, she is to meet the new padawan there and begin the lesson. Walking across the lawn, recently clipped and smelt fresh from a light shower that morning it was serene and nice to the skin as the air was cool. She wore her Jedi robes firm around her body and neatly tired with her leather belt, her saber clipped to her hip she at least, looked the part.

"Good morning Padawan Aris", she did not know his surname. "I am Knight Abaigeal E'ron, and I will be teaching you today", she said stand near the man now sitting fidgeting. She could sense he was anything but calm or focused, but images and thoughts playing across his mind. Not that she 'see' them or 'hear' them, but clearly his express of face betrayed him.

"Please don't get up", she said now joining him on the lawn.

His mind floundered through the past and the present, his emotions were going from the positive end to the negative end without control. Aris opened his eyes abruptly gazing towards the vast natural flora of the Voss Academy's courtyard. It was truly magnificent and reminded him of his one and only visit to the City State of Emporio. They were really big show offs there, vanity was a common trait.

Soft steps approaching him took his attention, as he began turning his head to see who was coming his way, a feminine voice spoke to him from his left side.

Aris turned his head quickly to the woman that spoke to him. She was unnaturally tall for a Human female, as far as he knew, and probably that was normal height for her...race? The woman did look more of a Human than anything else but slightly visible patches of fur on her cheeks were visible to the naked eye. Her eyes blue as the sky fitted well the typical Jedi robes. Aris immediately started rising to pay the needed respects - manners that the Silver Sanctum Coalition applied.

Abaigeal told him politely and midway Aris slowly dropped back into his former position while she joined him.

"Pleasure to meet you, Lady E'ron" The Hellyn nodded bluntly while keeping his eyes on her, he thought what else to say. "How are we to begin?" This was probably the most sound question at this moment.

"Formalities are over Aris, pleased call me Abaigeal and drop the Lady bit", she grinned, Abaigeal is very much like her mother in this regard, the former grand master not brooking any time for the protocols of rank. She wriggled in her spot on the ground, trying to gain a comfortable position to begin the lesson.

"Well, firstly tell me something about yourself, and how you see yourself in the Sanctum. You direction as Jedi for example. This is give me some guidance to help you in training over all. Today however, we will begin with meditation and Telekinesis".

This would a way to relax his mind further, to be at ease in her presence and form a bond of trust between teacher and student. And when he gives her what is required, he can do the same, and ask question of her. Abaigeal folded her legs underneath her, and sat in the lotus position her eyes slowly closed as she lifted her chin and began to breath with control. She sat waiting for his answers.

Aris raised both his eyebrows in both surprise and delight at Abaigeal's grin and suggestion to drop the formalities. He had really good manners generally but preferred more 'lesser' way of talking despite having aristocratic roots. That is why he usually could fit well amongst all, except for his peers in military service which isolated him due to his highborn background thus making him a bit of an introvert.

"I've already been entitled the rank of Warden in the Silver Guardians, La-. Abaigeal." Aris replied to her enquiry and continued." Also due to past experience of lightsaber combat, I see myself pursuing a path fitting one of the Silver Guardians."

"Yes, m'am." Then the Hellyn nodded to her statement that their first lesson was to be meditation, which he found hard, and Telekinesis which he found quite exciting. Thus, Aris closed his eyes and tried to focus and attempt to throw himself in a state of complete peace. With Abaigeal by his side, he assumed her guidance would make it easier for him.

Time to learn.

"Then our meeting is fortuitous. As a Guardian myself it is my duty to see to the training of the Wardens and so we shall begin". She said remaining in position to start meditation. Abaigeal could sense is 'displeasure' at the thought of meditation which is understandable to those that struggle with this ability but meditation is the solid ground on which Jedi set their abilities, to be able to focus on them when required. Meditation sets up a natural inclination to drew the force to them in a controlled manner and strengthen that ability as time passes.

She laid her hands on her ends of her bent knees palm open upward and took in a deep breath in order to center herself. With a low soft voice, "Breath in and out slowly, concentrate on this for a moment. Just allow yourself to hear every breath you take and expel". She would pointedly do so herself and after a few moments she continued instruction.

"Little by little, removed all your thoughts and place them toward the back of your mind, allow the force to enter you, sense everything around you. Bring into your body and senses the living force of Voss, and give it home to strengthen you both physically and mentally."

She would allow him time to complete this, or to ask questions at this stage if the need was there. Telekinesis is not an easy skill to learn without the ability to be connected to the environment.

Aris was glad to hear that she was also part of the Silver Guardian Order as it gave him the opportunity to learn from those that had similiar approaches not only to combat but possibly to life too. He focused even more on her instruction and did as she said. It was hightime to start making progress in achieving a good level of concentration when meditating.

As the Hellyn proceeded on heeding her instructions, he felt his body relax from a tension that he did not know had burdened him. Yet, the key was easing the tension on the mind. His constant drive to gain power and reclaim his throne back on his homeworld kept dragging his progress. He had to let go.

Abaigeal guided him further on what he was supposed to do and he attempted so. The mental barrier of his life's goal kept pulling at him. It was like a rapid animal that if it would let go, it would perish and so it clung to its survival. His inner battle was painted as grimaces on his face until he realized his mistake.

He was not letting go.

Aris was trying to grasp his thoughts and throw them away but it was not how it worked. He repeated in his mind the words that the Knight next to him had told him -
Abaigeal E'ron said:

. He was simply trying to shut the doors to everything while he actually he had to remove his mind from all doors, walls and similiar mental barriers. Thus, he heeded her words and focused his senses on the rich life of Voss.

The sudden enlightment and riptide of Force that engulfed him rejuvenated his whole existence. As if he had thrown his muddy self into a clear spring that ran through the forest under the cool shades of large trees that prevented the unbearable scorch of a midday summer sun. Aris felt as he could touch his blessing - the Force - and feel the infinite reach it gave to one. Endless capabilities, an explained phenomenon.

His excitement of this effect was too great for him to handle and too surprising for him to maintain, it was due to his excited emotion that he rocked back into his body. He learned to open the doors, now could he hold them open.

"This is...undescribable." Aris commented and looked at Abaigeal. That was the only description he could find on what he had experienced. The only time he had touched the Force in a similiar manner was in his rage a few years ago aiming to strike down another Hellyn - Nikias. Yet that touch felt tainted despite being reinforcing.

Now he had to learn how to maintain it and that is where Aris knew he would find the hard part. His concentration only proved very good in times of combat.

"How do I maintain it?" He enquired and as the primal excitement weared off, Aris wanted to ask a question regarding productivity. "And...Despite it's nourishing and pleasant effect, how does it help?" The Hellyn had not much of an idea of how training in the Force began and what was needed for one to channel it easily and thus he was interested in how this would be helping the former. He simply did not know and wanted to learn.

She unfurled her legs and stretched out using her arms to prop herself up. Abaigeal had sensed his 'fight' against his own mind, thoughts that are impeding his progress not only here today, but in general. She had not delved into his mind to read them but in her own meditation and being aware of the surroundings, she sensed them well enough. He is in the environment, and close by so it was not a hard endeavour.

"With time and practice, you will learn to control it, to be able to sustain it. Like all things that relate to the force, and in life, one must pay attention to the application of the skill", she said turning her gaze toward him, with a smile. He had done very well on this attempt but would have to learn moderation so to not drain himself of energy.

"Build your energy slowly, start small and pull the force to you by degrees and once you have reached a desired level of control then you stop". Easier said then done, but he has to start somewhere.

His next question was a good one, and one not many ask. "How does it help?", she said thinking on the vastness of that answer. "I am not sure what Jedi Code you follow, as we are allowed to choose but I kind of like the old code, and the first line of that code, I believe, is your answer".

"There is no emotion, there is peace". She quoted. "Can you tell me what you think this means?". There is no right or wrong answer to this question, so many people hold different views on it's meaning and each one as good as the next.

"As for the ability to sense your environment, the landscape around you. The possibilities for the use of that are endless. It is strong and power skill to have. Just image yourself in a fight against an enemy, and you have the ability to not only sense your position but also of those around you? To be able to sense the landscape, what is in it and how that might be used". She looked at this hoping he was getting her meaning.

"Couple that with the ability to use telekinesis. In this fight I want you to image, you do not have your sword or saber, what weapon would you use?", she grinned.

Aris listened to her explanations and instructions regarding how to maintain and sharpen his control over this meditation. It really sounded pretty logical for such a supernatural phenomenon. The Hellyn imagined it as how one could hold water in his hands. You turn on the sink with power, you have no control over the water's amount on your hands, you turn on the sink with much less power, you can regulate the amount of water you could hold.

Easier said than done.

The apprentice remained as he was pondering on the question. It was really hard for him to grasp it, additionally he always felt much less adaptable to the ways in the Silver Sanctum Coalition. He had harder time adapting, being quite stuck to his roots. His mind wandered for a moment at his mortal enemy Nikias, whether he was doing better than him. Probably he was.

"I don't think it is possible." Aris said calmly but honestly. He did not know if it was a good idea to be so honest in critisizing part of the Jedi's code here, but being the son of a monarchic dynasty, he sometimes felt he had the right to speak his mind. "Perhaps they mean that too much emotion may blind you in combat, show your weak spots. That might be true yet without emotion, I think, then we are simply shells. No spark to light our beliefs and values." Aris believed that to guard the galaxy from injustice, one had to feel emotions towards those that were victims of injustice. If they did not feel so, then their resolve was not true and their actions might be flawed. He did not voice those thoughts though. The Hellyn believed he had said too much already.

Aris nodded to what she explained, Abaigeal had a really good point. Knowledge of your surroundings was vital in any battle if it was to be won. This explanation reinforced his resolve to learn to control his meditation.

When she grinned at her seemingly tricky question of what weapon he would use if he had no sword or saber. Aris smiled back, something he did rare:

"Telekinesis." He simply stated, his smile turning into a slight grin.

OOC: Muse finally back at it. <3 Sorry about the wait. : /

"Just telekinesis?", she looked at him grinning at her. "How about the Force. Every skill you have available to you to use, everything you have learned could be used as a weapon if clever enough".

Abaigeal stood up, "Come with me", she said as she walked away toward another part of the court yard. Pushing back a low laying branch, she stepped into the pebbled garden that the padawans use to practice telekinesis.

"My interpretation of the first line of the code is that emotions cloud judgement. Not that they have to be removed entirely, or as you say, we become nothing but shells of nothing. That is not what a Jedi is, we operate out of emotions just like any living thing in the galaxy. As you know the Sith use the fuel of hate and anger, why would not a Jedi use love? equal emotions are powerful and .. dangerous. So it is control that is needed in order to remain away from the destruction of those emotions. That is but part of my understanding of it .. I could go on more".

She raised her arm indicating the pattern in the pebbles, "But we are not here to hear we waffle on about codes. You see this garden of pebbles, they have been arranged by someone practicing this very skill", with a wave of her hand the pattern was disturbed and became random.

"You are going to create your own design using telekinese. Let me see what you have regarding this skill". She wanted to see what level he is before more the lesson forward.

Aris listened to her, his slight grin still on his face, as she explained more the capabilities of the Force. Indeed, he had heard from his late father and gathered information from the Silver Sanctum regarding the Force and its powers. It was indeed a supernatural power with infinite possibilities. It was what would primarily aid him in his quest to reclaim the throne.

The tall Hellyn followed the Jedi Knight as they entered a more secluded area of the courtyard, one he had not seen before. Pebbles were neatly put in patterns that made the otherwise unspecial place quite the view.

Aris nodded to what she said, yet what he understood is that both love and hate were just a means to an end for him. He kept that to himself. He wondered whether this emotions were truly dangerous and leading to destruction as she spoke. The Hellyni were known for their questioning behaviour, they had been one of the pioneers that had laid the foundation of the modern galaxy. It was thus normal for them also question rather than answer.

With just a wave of her hand the patters were obliterated, now lying randomly on the ground. She then told him that he is to create patters on his own using telekinesis. Taking a deep breath, he focused his mind into that flow that passed through him - the flow of the Force. Tap into it. His powers, he had learned, mostly came naturaly when in a state of emotion or combat. Such states made him a much greater conductor of the force, yet it was renown that Force sensitive Hellyni tend to have higher potentials in it than other species.

He focused hard and imagined moving the pebbles. Nothing happened. Once again he tried the same strategy and nothing happened. It frustrated him, it really did and as that frustration started slowly seeping itself into his veins, the pebbles began moving erratically.

Control yourself...

As he did, the pebbles once again rested on the ground. The frustration came back again in full force.
His quest suddenly appeared out of nowhere in his mind and as if it interacted with what he was trying to do. Taking that in rather than waving it away, the pebbles began moving around erratically in the air and abruptly stopped. Falling into the ground they resembled something close to an owl - the symbol of his City State.

Although far from perfect, he had been able to manipulate the pebbles and position them in the image that seemed to always appear in his head when Aris would try to use the Force. The Hellyn turned to his mentor, his expression blank, expecting her to scold him for using his emotions, more or less, to channel the Force.

"I apologize." Aris tilted his head slightly.
