Resolved On creating political figures

Just as the title implies, what does it take to create a political figure, like, say a senator or some form of council member for X faction? Do those ranks have to be actually earned or can an OC be created already having that? Are there any particular rules I should follow? How much power would be too much for such a character? Can they own things such as corporations, small armies, or even cities or straight up planets?

I'm pondering about creating a character that fits a form of nobility, like a Duke or something similar. But there's too many "sensitive" things I could mess up so I'd rather ask all of this. Sorry if it's too much.

To answer the easy questions first, by and large ranks and power are determined by you and you alone. If you want to start a character out as a simple clerk or bureaucrat and work them up to some corporate tycoon or planetary governor then feel free! If you want to start them halfway there or already in a position of power then no one will bat an eye. It just depends on what sort of character you're going for and what you want them to have from the get-go.

As for political figures in particular factions that would vary from faction to faction and your best bet would be reaching out to whichever ones you're interested in writing with and asking about their structures in particular. Cooperation and communication are your best tools here on Chaos so the first step is knowing who you're wanting to be influential with and from there they can help fill in a few blanks that you might have about the specifics regarding your character's influence and presence in the galaxy.

Thank you! I'll get to refining my ideas for the character and checking/reaching out to the factions, then.

We have a burgeoning political side that we are working on fleshing out if you wanted to be on the ground floor, but either way if you need some help fleshing things out I’m happy to help!

If you end up needing/wanting help for The Galactic Alliance and its political side, feel free to reach out to me :)
Hey, it's me again. I've been thinking about what to do, and I gotta ask. Are double agents allowed?
Think Palpatine, but kept as a senator. Someone who's supposedly part of one faction but is secretly helping another. Playing both sides to always come out on top kind of mindset

That's sort of the idea I have for now.

I think as long as it’s discussed openly OOC you’d be fine tbh. There are spies and espionage and double agents like that all over the place.

Communication, cooperation, and coordination!

Follow those three C’s and you’re going to be golden

In terms of creating a political figure, I feel like the simple, OOC answer is simply, write a great character and be active in a faction. Now beyond that, I still revert to the concept of writing a character first. Most of the memorable characters you know are memorable for that reason. You wanna right someone in power? Great. Lord knows I have done it many times. Now in terms of rules to be followed, that depends on the faction. Anything is technically on the table. But whatever guidelines are laid out by a faction are, well, that. But on the flipside, everything is very flowy on Chaos, and no one will stop you from writing a nobleman.
