We've had this talk many times. Every time, things get better, then slip again. I fully expect to have to say this again in a couple months.
Just because you can deny a sub for argument, you do not get to think you're infallible or that your grasp of canon is perfect. Submitters have a right to give counterarguments and cite canon sources in the process. In a large minority of cases when factory judges have dug in their heels and denied subs or forced substantial edits, the factory judge has been incorrect due to laziness or irritation. I mention laziness because most conflicting interpretations of canon have, at their root, a choice on the judge's part to avoid the research that could save everyone a lot of heartache. This leads judges to ignore the possibility that the other side could be in the right.
Be flexible. Be helpful. We are here for them.
I've had many, many complaints over the past few months about FJs and staff being rude in the factory, and forcing unreasonable edits. In the majority of cases that I've seen, the incident has been the FJ/staffer's fault more than the member's. Stop digging in your heels over things that don't matter, and stop assuming that your interpretation of canon is the only valid one.
I enjoy being your friend, but this is one of those times when something needs to be said. Forgive my bluntness, but that will no longer be tolerated. If this continues and it's a factory judge doing it, that factory judge will be let go, and Libby and I will train a replacement. If this continues and it's a staffer doing it, that staffer will no longer be welcome in the factory.
