Private On the Hunt for Artifacts

Sometimes it was just too easy of a way to make money. Getting out there and passing something along that he ‘found’ or, even more intricate, forging a copy, returning that to the ‘authority’
that had it, and selling the real, before anyone was any the wiser. Eaton wasn’t the type to get violent, and well, he was out here, doing the best he could to make some money.

And that did involve helping smugglers. Sort of an honorary one himself. He was more a fence. It just so happened that he could outrun most authority ships in his hot rodded out shuttle. And he took a lesson from his sister and replaced the navi computer with something from Kattada. Gave him an even better way to get in and out of Core.

Today, though, he was doing his best to blend in, though. Another museum, another bit of priceless artifacts, and he was fairly certain that most of it was real. Not so bad, and it wasn’t a fault, he knew for a fact at least two of the human-heritage portraits in the Grand Museum of Coruscant were faked. Really good fakes, but he still had yet to track down the real ones.

Imagine that, pulling up with something that was promised to millions of viewers a year to be real, and only to prove it was fake. The trick was finding who had it and passing it off to the authorities in such a way that he didn’t collect the heat.

The Blubreen was making his way around, looking at the art and artifacts until he came up to one that caught his eye. The pilot turned thief grinned as he looked over some of the artifacts.

“You know some're fake…” Eaton spoke up, feeling the eyes of someone else watching him. "A good replica, though."

Naria's eyebrow twitched up, amusement catching between her lips.

"Is it?" She stepped closer to the glass shelving unit the stranger was studying and tilted her chin. She had visited this museum once or twice before, and even had founders rights on an stature displayed several rooms over.

She liked to think she knew the history of most of the displayed. She searched for signs that something was amiss, pretending as if this man wasn't the splitting image of the contact she had agreed to meet.

"And why do you say that?"

The rogue-of-sorts didn’t make a point to turn around to see the woman. He knew she was there, knew he was being surveyed, even if not outrightly having security put on him. Eaton got along with a quick smile and the right glance to most folks. But ones who worked places? It didn’t tend to help him sneak under the radar of those types.

He had that air about himself, someone who may not be here for all the right reasons.

“Just, life on the Outer Rim. Seen Nihil artifacts being passed around in back rooms. Paint’s off.”
He made to nod up at the helmet. At least that was the lie he was going to be saying to her. He had a few thoughts on the color, but even then, the build of it wasn’t a pure cortosis artifact. Too much of a shine.

“You know where they found this?”

"No," she answered honestly, turning to him with a humbled air. There was always a chance to learn in this community, and she was never one to pass it up.

"I know who did," she clarified. "And he won't be pleased to hear there's a challenge on it's legitimacy. Do you know a lot about Nihil artifacts?" It was the first question of several, but Naria knew better than to pounce when you could bait...

This one was a bit different, wasn't she? Eaton was the type to try and lie his way around a situation. Yeah, he said lie, because he couldn't always charm everyone. What Eaton wanted to do was be the type in his field who was just suave enough to make everyone trust him when he was making grand claims that were of a various level of truth. She didn't know where it was found, well that could help him out.

If it was found in the Core, a greater chance of it being falsified. The Coruscanti loved their 'family history' that was always involved in some 'ancient Galactic issue.'

"Oh? And who was the one to uncover this?" He took a second to try to compose himself as she continued with some questions, as he looked over at her again. "I know a bit about a lot of things. The closer someone gets to the Core, the greater the chance the Nihil artifact is false. Someone wanting to recreate a mask to say they found it on their world, fighting off one of the Storms." He was fairly certain his terms were believable.

"That is hardly scientific," she responded, her lips twisting into a smile. Suspecting the story was a bit of a ruse to ruffle their deal, Naria let it pass and held out her hand.

"Eaton W., I take it? I assure you the helmet I have for you is not a replica, despite our proximity to the core. Would you like to see it?"

Scientific? Did she not get out into the field then? Half of archeology, as much as he was going to boast, was about the adventure, the other parts, the finding the items, that was just as much folklore and myth as it was actual research. “I mean, finding artifacts isn’t all that much of science, is it?” He knew there was science involved, but Eaton was more of a fence than the actual one unearthing everything.

“Thats right, but you can just call me Eaton.”
He offered a sly wink to her. “You can assure that? If so, i know my buyers will definitely pay the premium for that item then.” Taking a beat to consider, making it seem like he wasn’t going to follow through, he nodded. “Lets see it then.”
