Once Upon a Journey

... A continuation of Hoth-like shenanigans, with some heartfelt fluff.

Cardei Residence, Theed - Naboo.

Who sleeps in the pantry? Ria, well to be fair, she slept above the pantry and when she got hungry she got down and grabbed what she needed. Instructions were for wusses and people who could properly read in the dark. Ria did not have this capability and was too lazy to climb out into the light, but she was not so lazy as to keep the pillow she snagged at Hoth with her. In fact now, as she shimmied down from the pantry and opened the door she looked left and right to see if the coast was clear. Sliding along the house floors that looked like they belonged to some ancient creature she managed her way up the stairs and toward the bathroom. There she could try and get a bath, Goddess knows she could use it. Having spent days doing Goddess knows what for the Runners the greasey, grimey and dirty young thing stripped herself of her dirty clothes and got into the shower and sighed with relief...

Only one person would be using Ajira's shower right now. That person generally didn't care if Ajira freshened up elsewhere in the room. They'd been married going on two decades, after all, under one name or another. Ajira glanced at the foggy shower door, catching a glimpse of pale skin and blonde hair. She proceeded to the sink.

"So I finished going over the data from Hoth," she said absently, taking a pair of tweezers to the contours of her eyebrows. In Theed, near the palace, one had to look precise. "The House of the Dying Sun is just as well entrenched as we'd hoped. It'll be tricky finding a way back to the Greater Javin without attracting attention, but Shambleau confirms the trip would be worth it. Their leader is apparently very, very strong. I'm willing to bet he has something of interest." She set the tweezers aside and began rubbing an exfoliant mask into her skin. The Dark Side tended to screw with one's features. Rejuvenation was a crucial aspect of her cover identity.

"Just like old times."

Well feth.

Ria was trying to figure out how to poof herself out of this one, but unfortunately there was no poofing to be had. There was one of two options here, one - pretend to be this person or two just come out with it and pray to the Goddess that she could make the stairs with enough time to glide out. Then again, she was here alone and without any of her companion from Demonsgate or Kal'Shebbol. Right, so, "yeah so about that - do you guys still have that stuffy old couch?" She asked, "the one that breaks your back when you sit on it, and by the way where in the feth do you guys pick up this kind of shampoo."

The blonde took a sniff of it, "by the Goddess, now listen, I've been all over this galaxy and not a single house can manage this kinda stuff, then again all the houses I end up in, are well - not here, hey by the way do you guys know you're out of biscuits?"

Spencer had planned on taking a shower this morning, but alas she had wandered a bit too far and finally had ended up where everyone seemed to have gathered. Yawning slightly, Spencer tightened the robe around her slender frame and entered the bathroom where Ajira seemed to have been talking to someone. There was a voice that answered back. Spencer’s senses weren’t on point here and she blinked at both Ajira and the voice that was in the shower.

“The Hoth data.” Spencer had an odd tone to her voice as she stood there with her arms folded an eyebrow raised she looked at Ajira and then nodded towards the shower.

“Those were my biscuits you know and that stuffy couch really isn’t meant to be sat or slept in…” Sniffing the air she narrowed her eyes and marched up to the shower. “Are you using my shampoo!?” The feelings she was feeling wasn’t because there was another woman naked in Ajira’s shower, it was the fact that everything that was being worked on could be demolished right here and now. Spencer raised her hand to use the force to blast the shower into oblivion, but she stopped and pressed her face against the foggy door.

“WHO GOES THERE?!”

"And what a delightful shampoo it is, really - one use of this and I don't need another shower for..." Ria slid the shower door open, "oh, I don't know - three months? You guys were at Hoth like three months ago right? Or was it two? Can I say, your leather jacket is amazing but does nothing against blasters." She shut the water off and grabbed a towel off the rack and wrapped it around her body. "Also what do you do with the- nevermind, you know what. I don't wanna know what you're supposed to do with that couch, because if you use it for what I think you use it for, ow, just ow."

Ria picked up her clothes, rather they had been Spencer's clothes from when Ria last raided the closet, "I can just dry clean these on my own."

The vagabond woman opted to go commando as slid on the pants that had seen better days, it really looked as if Ria had been crawling through the gutters on Atrisia, and well what do you know. She'd really been crawling through the gutters on Atrisia. The shirt was still burnt from the crash on Castameer and the jacket smelled like fuel but it was still a jacket and the boots, well. Boots were there even before Hoth and most likely still had some sort of gunk from Kal'Shebbol on them. "Thanks for the shower and the biscuits, guys wouldn't happen to get any tonitran jerky anytime soon, right?"

"You know what, don't answer that," the grifter said with a smile, "you know I'm getting the same feeling I had when I decided to raid this one Sith compound on Thessi- Thissi, well point is. It was me, this little silcer you see before you against like a bunch of sith and honestly, I'm still trying to figure out how I got out of that one." To be fair, she used a lot of computer systems against those Acolytes. Ria patted herself down she still had her two racket bites and a baton slung over her shoulder, her utility belt and other pieces of a gear an 'adventurer' might have. "I'll uh, I'll send you a card from Atrisia, or uh... well, Kal'Shebbol assuming there's anything left, you guys have been amaze, really."

Clearing her throat she eyed the window and then looked at the door, and back to the window. "Give me like three seconds, head start - give or take." Securing her satchel she put her hand to the liquid cable dispenser and took a step back. "Just don't start counting yet, alright?" Another step toward the door, "okay now you can start counting."

A great deal happened. During the first portion of the great deal, Ajira stood immobile, toothbrush in her mouth, exfoliant masque in place. During the second portion of the great deal, she removed the toothbrush and spat into the sink, maintaining eye contact with the situation. Insofar as possible.

She thought back to leftovers missing, baked goods inexplicably vanished. She thought back to toilet seats and towels and faucets and any number of household details that had been annoying her. She'd largely assumed they were her own fault, and that she was misremembering -- or that Spencer was becoming a slob in her old age.

So to speak. But never, ever, to think.

"Kid," she said around a gritty mouth -- she had yet to rinse the rest of the toothpaste -- "we need to talk about boundaries."

On most occasions Spencer was a very mild mannered person. It usually took a lot for her to dive off the deep end and usually when that occurred...planets quivered in fear. Today, Naboo did so, before Naboo, Lujo did so, before that it was some other random planet threatened to be engulfed in a force storm. So all in all getting Spencer mad was probably not the best idea. Poor Ria had no idea what arena she had stepped into. Hazel eyes flared as she stared at the woman who continued to talk, not providing any sort of explanation of why she was in there, why she had stolen clothes, and why she had devoured WITHOUT asking Spencer’s favorite sweets. Not to mention the horrible mess she had left in her trail.

The scoundrel’s eyes had darted from the window to the door, the empath had already gotten images from what the girl was thinking. Smuggling one’s self into the house and home of one of the strongest mentalists wasn’t the brightest of ideas. A calm voice escaped Spencer’s pressed lips, “Sorry.” That’s all that she said and in that instant furniture and anything else in the room rose quickly from the ground, any and all exits were quickly blocked and Ria was left with Spencer and Ajira (who would probably not interfere) in the room with no exit.

Calmly the woman in the soft robe walked towards Ria. “Do you care to explain, without the consistent nonsense that keeps pouring out of your mouth...as to why you are wearing, MY clothes?! Also WHY do they look like that!?” If only Ria was a Force sensitive, she would feel the immense energy that came from the woman that stood before her.

Ria ducked and tucked herself into a ball as soon as things began to fly. She stood firm, well kark if this is how she was gonna go out the grifter figured to get it all out now. If someone was gonna hear her sins, it might as well be this lady. Closing her eyes the non-force user steeled herself thinking back on the days as a guttersnipe running along the Corellian district of Nar Shaddaa. Images of Na'lona came to her and all Ria could think of is how much she had failed the Twi'lek. Her thoughts went to EM-4 and the promise of repair and how they've gone unfulfilled, her thoughts lingered on the Bothan... Ary. Finally her thoughts went to the old man, Tylo Dustra who taught Ria how to sling a blaster pistol or two and as her eyes opened she locked onto Spencer's hazel eyes.

If this was her end, then so be, it. By the Goddess Ashira she would be done and her time here would be over, and she would go out just as she came in, without pomp or circumstance with little more than someone discarding the body. "After Hoth there was Kal'Shebbol, supposed to be a quick job - turns out we led a rebellion," she says with an empty voice, "then there was Atrisia, crawling through the gutters, shooting out rivals, taking down corporate empires all for the sake of that verdant coin." A scoff as she looks down to the clothes, "see when I found you guys on Hoth, I just figured it'd be a quick score, y'know?"

"Just a quick bite, a change of clothes - I needed a change," Ria admitted, "the clothes I had before - they were the clothes of a slave." She rolled up her sleeves and showed the woman her mark, "see that? I belong to Sotta the Hutt, and I would've still been there if I hadn't found a ride out. Bryce, Bryce Bantam got me off that rock and we ended up on Demonsgate. Right in the middle of a chitstorm, Goddess it was a mess." A sad smile withered before it could set hold on her. "In between Atrisia and Kal'Shebbol, there was here - Naboo. Working for Lady Cardei here and there, helping the security system. Coruscant after it was liberated, and then back to Atrisia."

"I'm a Runner. I work for anyone who hires me to do whatever it is they need done, in the shadows," she adds, "when Atrisia went last time, I saw the ship. I recognized it, I recognized Cardei's comlink ping. Figured since it was a safe bet last time, I'd ride out another wave." She looks down at her clothes again, "so yeah, I'm a grifter, a thief, a little lowlife just tryin' to make a quick buck workin' for the highest bidder."

"So honestly," she says coolly, as she figures where her hat is, Tylo's hat, "if you kill me, do me a favor. Bury me with the hat, I promised the old man that I'd take it with me. If you find Lona, tell her I'm sorry and that I tried." Ria tried to be better than she was, but to be honest there wasn't much room for improvement. A kid no one wanted, someone who was discarded just like trash and felt no better than trash. "Just make it fast."
