The tropical winds were soothing as they blew gently over the early morning coffee drinkers. There was ample seating out on the large deck of the coffee house. Katarine was enjoying a cold green tea and watching the sea turtles on the rocks below. She felt at peace, despite the fact that her trip here hadn't been very productive. She had been tracing a lead on a possible human trafficking ring but it really hadn't panned out.

So now she had to wait until a pilot could come get her, but all and all a few days on a tropical planet with no agenda wasn't the worst thing that could happen. Right?

The sound of the doorbell goes off as a new face entered, her attire not matching like any other in the area. A blackened dress that flowed with an ethereal swing, and shadowy heels that had a nice clack to every step, hand holding her ears down as she entered.

After recent events she had tried to learn how to enjoy a more tropical setting, but alas her snowy skin and the sun just don't get along. It only made sense right?

The poorly dressed for the area stranger spoke with the barista, speaking so gently and softly you could only see the motion of her lips as she ordered. After which she gave them a partial curtsy before taking a seat, resting herself while listening to the Bossa Nova style music that helped bring about comfortable vibes.

In a short time her order would be done, a small service droid setting her black coffee down in front of her. And as the steam hit her porcelain face, she would take in the smell... Sublime!

Today was planned to be another lazy one, the woman hiding her force for now.

Katarine was enjoying the view and her tea when a stranger sat at the table next to hers. The woman was dressed most peculiarly for this weather.

Katarine smiled at her and took a sip of her tea.

“How’s the coffee here?”

She wondered if that was what the strangely dressed woman had ordered.

Someone was wanting something it seemed, she turns her attention up to see a rather cheery looking lady ask about the coffee.

"Well, I have yet to take a sip, but the smell is rather pleasing."

She would of course then take a little sip, the bitter punch of the black coffee sitting well with her taste buds.

"Ah, excellent."

Adeline shares with Katarine, the person now catching the interest of the vampiress.

"Normally partial to tea myself, but a black coffee always tastes satisfying."

Upon another glance, she determines this person to be a talkative sort.

"You may sit with me if you desire."

“Thank you.”

Katarine wasn’t normally one to strike up random conversations but she was on something or a vacation and this woman seemed interesting.

She took a seat the gothic woman’s table and smiled.

“I like tea too. The frozen green tea is really good. I felt like it was too hot for coffee but I’m glad they serve a good brew.”

She took another sip of her tea and smiled. It was good.

“My name is Katarine but you can call me Kat.”

"I go by Adeline, a pleasure."

She doubted they knew the name, much less the titles and actions tied to it. Besides, sharing only the first name helped... Ignoring the fact she had a very distinct look about her.

"While it is rather hot outside, I haven't slept in a while... I figure a nice coffee and-"

Her words would be cut off by the same droid as before, placing her breakfast down upon the table.

"And breakfast roll would help, at least until I decide to nap."

While not often, it might be a surprise to learn that she did indeed need to sleep after so long.

"So, out of curiosity... What compelled you to speak with little ole me? Was it perhaps the ears? Has to be, people seem to have an obsession with desiring to touch them for whatever reason."

She jests a bit, trying to help keep a friendly atmosphere despite her deadpan tone.. But at least her voice was as smooth as silk and as gentle as a soft rain.

Katarine watched as the droid brought over the breakfast roll and Adeline explained that she hadn't slept in a while. The breakfast roll looked good and Kat thought maybe she would come back for lunch latter.

"So, out of curiosity... What compelled you to speak with little ole me? Was it perhaps the ears? Has to be, people seem to have an obsession with desiring to touch them for whatever reason."

Kat grinned, figuring Adeline must be teasing a little bit. Yes the ears did catch attention but it was also the womans strange dress.

"I mean the ears are awesome but mostly it was just your look. Wearing so much black in such heat. It caught my notice. I figured I would say hi. I usually don't do that type of thing. I came for work but it fell through so I'm just enjoying the scenes and the local people. "

"Can't say I have ever heard someone describe my features as 'awesome' before, but thank you."

The words were crude, and not something she had ever been told before.. It amused her.

"You enjoy my looks? I always put an emphasis on looking how I desire.. Despite the heat of course. I had tried wearing a bikini at a beach before, unsure how to feel about it.. Mm, anyway. You mentioned a job? Do you work for one of the local companies perhaps?"

She would take a nibble at her food while waiting for Kat to respond, a keen eye could catch a glimpse of her impressive canines.

Katarine was amused by this woman. She had such an odd way of speaking and dressing but it was facinating. The Jedi had never met anybody like this girl before, and wait were those fangs? Kat blinked and wondered if she was seeing things.

"No I was here conducting an investigation for The Galactic Alliance. It didn't pan out though so I am killing time until my ride comes to pick me up."

The droid showed up and Kat ordered a muffin. It scuttled off to fulfill the request.

"Hows the food here?"

"An investigator, oh my! I can't say my business here has been anything so serious, just trying to learn and enjoy things I normally wouldn't try. Such as the tropics, where I tend to live and visit are darker places. The only kind of heat I don't care too much about is the kitchen... Dishes are an art, not everyone enjoys the same kinds of art."

Even more so for her.

"Ah, the food. I must say the the level of butter is perfect for a bake such as this, the flake gently brushes the taste buds in a way that helps add a level of comfort."

She sighs, glancing at the investigator.

"Are you okay?"

Adeline asks in a gentle manner, noticing the woman space out a bit and blink a few times.

Katarine listened to the woman about food as the droid brought her a muffin. She carefully peeled the wrapper down and was happy to see that it had fruit embedded in it and nuts. This would be delicious.

"Are you okay?"

"Oh yes, sorry. The heat must be messing with my vision." Katarine blushed, realizing that Adeline had caught her staring at Adelines teeth. Kat should really be more mindful. She did not want to appear rude. Kat was used to seeing aliens of course but she hadn't ever met anybody that looked like Adeline. Still, the Jedi was not a toddler and staring was impolite.

"So you cook? What types of meals do you like best?"

"It isn't anything serious, more akin to a side passion if I must be honest. I enjoy many kinds of meals, depends on my mood at the time I suppose."

Just like how they found Adeline strange, so to did she found Kat strange. Why were they blushing? They seem to stare a lot, but not in a convicting way, more just fascination. It really was the ears wasn't it?

"If the heat is messing with your vision, perhaps you need a cold water?"

They didn't seem to be sweating all too bad, and the cooler air inside the shop should stabilize the heat... She recognized the lie, but in her time figuring out people she figured this to be a lie made not to hide malicious intent.

"I must also say your outfit is also lovely, have you ever thought about taking a nice tropics flower and placing it behind the ear?"

“A flower sounds lovely. I think there is a vendor that sells them down the street. I will have to take a look.”

As if it had overhead their conversation a droid appeared at that moment with two ice waters. Katarine thanked it and took a sip. The crisp chill was welcome.

“So how did you get into cooking as a side passion?”

"What gets anyone into a hobby? A healthy dose of curiosity and boredom of course, first it was simple dishes... Then it became exotic banquets at lavish gatherings."

She of course takes the water, setting the cup on the table.

"Buy? Why not go on a search for one outside? The beachfront seemed to be home to all sorts of wildlife, perhaps it would feel more special to find the right one? Hm, or perhaps I can help with that investigation?"

The stranger asks, smiling a little as she slipped on her water.

Katarine listened about the hobby and nodded. She herself didn't really have any hobbies but she came from a time when Jedi didn't pursue such things. Now the Jedi had so much freedom. Many had families and their own homes. It was a different world.

"Sure, I guess a walk down the beach does sound fun."

She finished her water and and got up to throw the material in the waste bin.
