One Last Glimpse

The galaxy was full of strange and wonderful places, but even by the diverse standards of known space Galantos was a unique world. Most of the surface was covered in "seas" of thick gelatin, vast organic masses that nourished the native Fia. They visited the islands on those strange oceans only to interact with outsiders, building structures with reinforced foundations to survive the shifting gel-quakes, and otherwise kept to themselves. But interacting with outsiders was becoming more and more of a concern of late. The planet stood just beyond the borders of One Sith space, and a sort of prolonged panic had fallen over what might well be the next planet to fall before the Imperial war machine.

Like any world at the very fringes of power, Galantos offered many opportunities for those who worked outside the law. The cantinas were full nearly to bursting with such individuals, with five offworlders to every disgruntled-looking Fia. It was into this diverse mix that a black on silver protocol droid delicately stepped, making its way through the crowd in search of a particular individual. GR-4CE, sometimes called Grace, had come on behalf of its secretive masters in SAINT to seek Captain [member="Nima Tarkona"], a spacer reputed to be reliable and discreet. With any luck, she would consider the urgent but lucrative mission the smuggling group had selected to offer her.

Spying a flash of blue Lethan lekku at one of the tables, GR-4CE headed in that direction, moving quickly and deliberately. For many employers, time lost was credits lost; for the droid's masters, lost time could instead be measured in lives ended and irreplaceable artifacts destroyed. It was a deeply-instilled sense of purpose as much as the motivator unit that brought the messenger over to the Twi'lek's seat, where it offered a slight raise of one hand in greeting. "Captain Tarkona?" it cautiously ventured, its voice smooth and low. "Could I have a moment of your time? My master has heard of your considerable skills, and wishes to discuss hiring you, if possible."
