One of State, one of Government

Avidon Oligarchy
The Estate of the Baroness Magrath
There were so few in the galaxy that could do such an important job, and yet there were those few that were always the most qualified. The Baroness herself though was rather intrigued with the prospect that had been brought to her attention and with her background and history, the Baroness was more than hesitant. Let it be known though that she was more lady like and was more than willing to at least allow the party to have a voice before a decision was to be made, such was not as easily said when it came to the Republic and those that shared a different view then they.

"Bring her in."

Her voice was calm and serine, her hand motioning for one of the slaves to open the door. The key for the Baroness was that she always ensured the right treatment. She knew that she was safe around those, and their own treatment was such that they never required collars, nor was there the thought or inkling that one would attempt such an escape. For all that the Republic expounded about their own word, the Baroness seemed to have a better track record when it came to how others lived or served.

Leaning back slightly in her seat, a small grin grew upon her lips as she heard the low growling from her right. She knew what it was, and she didn't need to avert her gaze to see that the Nexu was already crouched into a pouncing stance ready to answer any threat with its own.

"Please sit and let us begin."

Employment was something that Alena had thought she would not be seeking after her political career in the Galactic Republic. Having served as both the Senator of Kuat and the elected Chief of the Senate, she had done her part, or so she thought, for the Republic. The truth was, however, the Republic wasn't going anywhere. Not with the One Sith devastating one Republic planet after another. And most certainly not with its batch of constantly bickering and divided senators. She had given democracy a try. It was time to perhaps try out something new.

Such was her reason as the former Chief of Senate Alena Beswin calmly waited to be recieved by Baroness Magrath at the estate of the baroness of the Avidon Oligarchy. She had seen potential in this newfound faction. Although it hadn't expanded too much yet, Alena could see it grow to something quite a lot more powerful and influential. Alena didn't invest her time or effort in things she didn't find worthy, after all.

"Greetings, it is my pleasure to meet you, my lady."

With that, and a courtesy bow, Alena sat and waited, aware of the creature on the baroness's right.

A small grin slowly grew upon the Baroness' lips, her golden-yellow hues moving over the woman that had arrived in her office. Sitting forward she allowed the time to move slowly, letting her guest settle into her seat as she brought her hands up, clasping them together. Her chin came to rest upon her knuckles, the large Nexu sat up and took notice of its mistress' movements. The Baroness remained silent, still and quiet, though not out of any means to attempt to intimidate the woman. No she was watching and waiting, much like a predator watches and learns of its prey, the Baroness acted the same, having picked up a few talents and tricks from her own little beast that remained a constant at her side.

She was still amazed, or rather curious as to why the former Senator of Kuat and head of the Republic Senate had come to her little corner of the galaxy, a system trapped between a corrupted and decedent Republic that was falling from within and without, and the warriors of Mandalore whom sought nothing else than battle and destruction. The Baroness remained still before she spoke up, her hands coming down and folding one atop the other upon the large desk.

"What brings you to my little corner? It is rare that one as prestigious as yourself would seek out someone of my stature. A quite Baroness that can not speak out against the Republic for fear that they would crush their way into my system and seek to enforce their way of life upon those that would not wish it."

It was funny that the baroness would describe Alena's position as one of prestige. As the Kuati woman saw it, the life of an unemployed ex-politician was not prestigious, and there was nothing prestigious about herself. Regardless, the noble had brought up a good point. What in the world was she doing here, in the middle of nowhere between the Republic and the Mandolorians.

"Your little corner, in this Galaxy, is more valuable than you may perhaps think it to be, my lady. And strategic location wise. I have seen real potential in investing my time and effort in your faction. There is much you have to gain under the current circumstances."

"The Jedi Order has now declared that it will no longer align itself with the Republic." she began, taking out a newspaper article for the noblewoman to see in case the baroness had not yet heard the news. "How will the Republic enforce its laws and influence without its Jedi warriors to command at whim?"

As ever the noble that she was, the Baroness listened quietly as she allowed the woman to speak without interruption. The Baroness herself had already known how profitable and valuable the Avidon System was, after all the generations of Magraths that had come before her seemed to known the same information. The system itself was still a wellspring of wealth in many of its worlds that had still yet to be tapped by the Magrath family and their business Magrath Industries. That same wealth would do wonders to bring about the rise of the Oligarchy.

"So the Jedi have decided to further themselves from the galaxy and their only true protectors. That is of no true surprise. The Republic though will seek to over compensate in these times. This does not make the Republic weak, it merely makes them more dangerous than before. Without the Jedi the Republic will likely take a more harsh stance when it comes to enforcing their laws."

The Baroness leaned back slightly in her seat, steppling her fingers for a moment as she thought before a small smirk grew upon her lips. This though was the right time for the Oligarchy to begin to solidify its strength in the area. With the Republic facing Invasions and attacks from the One Sith, the Baroness was seeing more opportunities that began to arise. How long would it be before the Mandalorians decided to turn their sight south towards the crumbling Republic?

"What can you offer to the Autarch?"

It was a simple question, though the Baroness wanted to hear it regardless of her true position within the Oligarchy. For now she would allow the young woman to think that she was merely meeting with another adviser or the right hand of the true leader. The Baroness though knew that if the woman were as smart as she gave her credit for, she would merely see through the simple illusion.
