One Week with a Giant

Day One

I swear some days on this mining colony were useless. Day in, day out, there's always at least ten miners who have an issue with something. Substandard mining equipment, a need for a higher paycheck. One thing after another, and yet no one ever just sits still for a day. Always something to fuss over. Like today, with Atrox. One of the newer crew members, one of a hundred and yet still a pain in my butt. Needed a better harness for exploring the caverns. So I had to go and order one through the datafile systems, otherwise we'd be jammed for days using the Holonet connections. Had to find one his size, since he's a damned Hutt, then process it for shipping. Now he's sitting in his quarters for the next few days, waiting for the harness, unable to work until it comes in. I swear....

Other news. We've had a big order come in from a group known as the....Order Dai Bendu Palawa. Whatever that means. Large shipment of laminanium for a big starship they're developing, and I mean big. Nine hundred some meters, filled with compartments. No weapons though...unsure as to why that is, but I'm sure the big lug will explain it.

Oh, yes, that. The Order people have this Phlog fella who represents them, and he's here at the colony, sleeping in his personal transport. We don't have a building big enough to fit him, but I'm sure he's fine. Why else would he have come? We had a nice discussion too. I mean, being the foreman of a mine like this, him being some Shike thing (he said it means teacher, I think), we could relate. Kind of. Anyway, he's a nice fella for a Phlog. Most I've ever heard of are those stupid beasts on Endor, and a few even wandered into our mine in the old days when slavery was big.

But we've gone legit, as far as the boss says we have. Every now and then the company men will come down and poke around for contraband and such. Make sure people have the right paper to work here. In fact, two days from now is their next stop by; should mark it down on the schedule.

Well, honey, I'll talk to you tomorrow. I know these files take forever to reach you without the Holonet here all the time, but you know I love ya.
