DARTH DANCE REVOLUTION. In the ancient tribal societies of Korriban, dance was a living embodiment of the Sith philosophy, a balance of passion and control. Tribal Sith of the past hosted massive gathering spaces wherein dance was used as a means of competition and expression. These gatherings were not mere celebrations of the art, but actually profound rituals expressing the intersection of raw emotion and physical mastery in their service to the Dark Side. Moreover, these dance spaces were protected and made safe by a tradition upheld by even Sith elders at war with one another, and maintained by all else who respected that law of the land; even those from cultures and Force using backgrounds beyond the Sith perspective.
Tribal elders taught that through dance, one could confront their fears, overcome weaknesses, and find communion with the Will of the Force. Some movements mimic combat forms, honing strength and agility, and were used by warriors on the battlefronts of war. Others serve as rites of passage, binding tribes and communities together or sealing pacts between peoples. In ancient times, dance spaces were considered sacred spaces.
At Kor'ethyr Academy, this tradition endures. Following the Outer Rim Survival Games of Ozzuk Thren, and contributing to a string of dance events hosted on the ancient Sith world, tonight's event takes place in the sprawling icy mountains of Korriban. Carved into their stark red edges are long tunnel systems wherein cavern interiors are covered with crystals and sparkling ice. Warm light shimmers across the reflective walls, refracting and scattering. From dance floors to high-stakes games, this evening offers a glimpse into the timeless allure of traditional and modern Sith culture; and you're invited!

KORRIBOOGIE. The heart of this event lies in the labyrinthine dance halls of Korriban's icy mountain caves. A string of scenic caverns each host unique performances from dancers or musicians. There, in the anonymity of the crowds, people dance. Each chamber hosts its own contained sonic environment, carefully isolated in order to prevent noise from bleeding into neighboring spaces. In one cavern, for example, pulsing beats echo off crystalline walls, drawing crowds to a vast floor where dancers lose themselves to primal rhythms. In another, ethereal melodies and ghostly lights drape across slowly swaying bodies.
Around each chamber, performers push themselves in feats of skill and daring. Aerialists swing from silk ropes high overhead while acrobats and contortionists move to mesmerizing symphonies from bizarre stringed instruments.
Beyond the cave's entrance and exposed to the freezing air of Korriban's mountain-top nights, participants can enjoy sprawling mountainous views, ice sculpture gardens, and gazebos with open fires welcome reprieve from the tunnel's stimulation. Whether joining the flow of dancers, marveling at the performances, or seeking a secluded place to enjoy the night, this will be an event to remember!

DEAL ME IN. High above the bustling dance chambers, housed in a different yet adjacent series of crystalline tunnels, the sabacc lounge offers a very different kind of attraction—and one which requires a very different kind of performance, too. Gambling! The caverns here are dimly lit, their walls draped in dark fabrics, and standing space heaters create pockets of warmth.
Sabacc, the galaxy's most infamous card game, is simple in its allure but rich in strategy. With each round the sabacc pot grows, bets are placed, the stakes rise, and you stand to get that much richer. Will you test your cunning and luck, or simply watch the drama unfold as fortunes shift on the turn of a card?

Sabacc in Star Wars Often played at high stakes, the goal of sabacc was to win the sabacc pot by collecting a hand with an absolute value closest to 23, but no higher. A typical sabacc deck comprised 76 cards (60 distributed in four suits plus 16 special cards), all of which had a specific value. Players take turns in sequence, deciding to hit or stand. After all players finish building their hands, all cards are revealed. Results are compared, and winnings are paid out accordingly. |
RULES SETUP Draw your opening hand! Roll a 20 sided dice. The resulting score determines the starting value of your opening hand. If you roll a 20, you've been dealt the "Idiots Array," a winning hand! See Winning for more details. TURNS Each post, you have the option to HIT or STAND. Once a player stands, they have chosen to keep their hand and can no longer draw cards. Players may hit until they reach a score of 23, they bust (their score exceeds 23), or they choose to stand.
WINNING A player wins by:
LOSING A player loses by exceeding 23 or having a lower total than the other players. TIE If two (or more) players with the highest scores tie, the player with the least cards in their hand wins. If players are still tied, the bet is returned and no one wins the pot. |
