History: Ooda grew up in a fairly poor family on Duro, but was much smarter than the rest of his family, who encouraged him to pursue a higher education, he did, and became a reputable doctor on his planet at age 25.
He was well known for working as hard as he could to save his patients, and how calm and confident he is. He worked as a doctor for the next 15 years, doing so financially well he bought a house for his parents fully paid. He was so focused on his work he never developed any close relationships, and never had a close partner. After 15 years working in the same field and 7 years working at the top medical center on the planet he stopped seeing anything new, there was no more challenge for him. Thus his sepecies sense of adventure caught up to him, and when Chalim stopped in his city to refuel in his first few months in space, Ooda asked to join his crew.
Chalim accepted the help almost immediately, needing a medic in case anyone was seriously injured. Selling his house and most of his possessions he gave most of his money to his parents to be given to them a certain amount each month so they could retire, and kept only a small sum of money after buying a Ms. Medica. He has been a part of the crew ever since, and is always disappointed when the crew comes back from a mission with no injuries.
