It's the end of October, which in my mind calls for a particular genre of thread; something akin to 'Sci-Fi Psychological Thriller' or some such equivalency. So, for your writing pleasure, I'm proposing a semi-guided thread that will hopefully fill that niche. If there are enough people who want to be involved, I'll launch the thread and guide it through as we go. Here's the entry story:
Background:
Hephaestus is a gas giant orbiting Sol Invictus in the Cadi System, part of Alexandria's solar system. Of the 12 moons that orbit Hephaestus, one of them (NZ-9718) turned back some interesting data in a research report from a Commonwealth Marine Survey team looking for possible locations for future training facilities. The report was instantly classified by Commander-in-Chief Rayce Tharelle and held back even from the rest of the security council as a matter of internal politics. A black line item was created in the Commonwealth Marine spending budget that resulted in the construction of a Top Secret research base operated by Commonwealth Marine Research (CMR) on the moon's surface.

Storyline:
All contact between CMR on Alexandria and NZ-9718 was severed without warning, save for a highly degraded, lone holo feed with a view of a corridor seemingly abandoned long ago. As holo data is streamed continuously between CMR and NZ-9718, this was highly disconcerting. At 0934-Common all of the feeds were live and mundane. After a short static burst ending at 0936-Common, all but one were down; the sole remaining feed was completely different than what it displayed only minutes before. Given the extremely sensitive nature of the research conducted on NZ-9718, Tharelle had no choice but to authorize an immediate Search & Rescue operation.

- Search for survivors, if any, on NZ-9718 research station
- Discover what transpired on NZ-9718 research station
- Gather useful data from NZ-9718 research station
- Prepare NZ-9718 research station for a new team of research scientists
