GENERAL INFORMATION

• Unit Name: Sustained Combat Unit (SCU)
• Affiliation: OPEX
• Classification: Light infantry, contracted security force.
• Description: Not nearly as elite as VSOG forces, the SCU play the critical role of combat support. These men gain critical experience in the mercenary world filling the role of line-troops of an average quality, but with competitive wages in comparison with regular army forces of the surrounding empires.

COMBAT INFORMATION: The combination of Unit Size and Availability below is the indicator of how numerous your unit is. Stormtroopers for instance would be considered Large/Common, while Rogue Squadron would be a Small/Unique unit. Majority Force User Units are prohibited from being Common or Large. The stronger and more specialized your unit is (FU or NFU), the smaller and less common it should be.

• Combat Function: Rank and file soldiers, adept at operations in a wider range area in comparison to VSOG forces. These troops are general purpose grunts who carry out OPEX operations that don't require the scalpel of special forces. Motivated by decent pay and lodging, this force ranges from militiamen looking for experience, to veterans who didn't or couldn't try for VSOG. This makes their overall performance average with outliers not uncommon.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Shortly after the formation of OPEX by Kael Virex, it was determined that a security force would be required for garrison of company bases and the ship itself. Thus, the garrison force was created. As the VSOG showed themselves to be more and more capable, OPEX gained a reputation for quality work at a high premium. Before long, calls were made to expand possible operations, or offer lower cost solutions to security concerns, so Virex reorganized the garrison force into the SCU.

The SCU see mostly garrison, or even security jobs. Often poor equipped, they are issued a pack, fatigues, and vest. Weapons are up to the individual to come by with standards being enforced on types allowed. The SCU is sometimes mobilized to proper strategic level operations where large amounts of troops are required, acting as the main army force for OPEX. Commissioned tanks and armored vehicles support the troops in a combat zone whilst the troops themselves fill the role of light/medium infantry dependent on the individual kit of each troop.

The SCU in action can be seen in operations such as the pirate attack on Wombani. When one of their transports went down in the opening stages of the battle, Virex and VSOG operatives had to rescue the troops and hold off until armored support could arrive. Though VSOG oversaw the dissabling of AA and the initial clearing of landing zones, the boys of the SCU played a pivitol role in dismantling militia forces and pushing enemies off-world. The unit has the opportunity for greatness, and so-long as communications are secure and a competent leader is at the helm, the SCU and it's armored support can be a skilled and effective fighting force that may contend with army forces of any of the factions on the map, albiet with slightly higher pay.
