Noah stumped with how to improve the original OPSR-1 other than using a different design or bullet decided to take a page from his own private companies, Hekler'Kok Defense Industries, book. He used a Electro-Thermal Pulse round which uses a filament that is ignited by the pulse, this ignition produces plasma, which expands, sending the round down range faster than any standard slugthrower round, to make it even hard-hitting the standard issue rounds for the rifle is made of tungsten. This of course comes with the fact that the weapon is a little harder to maintain than standard slugthrowers and the fact that the tungsten barrel makes it heavier, though it decreases hop-up and in turn makes it more accurate.

I'm not really sure why this is needed. To my knowledge, there's no big reason we would need to order an upgrade like this. We haven't had any real extended land skirmishes in some time. Eriadu was, comparatively speaking, a minor event on the ground. Mostly we've been encountering fights in space. That's why our naval force has expanded like it has.

As a whole, the Protectorate does not use a lot of slugthrowers. They're situationally useful. Predominately though, we use blasters. They're more powerful and more consistent in a fight.

Yeah well if we neglect our forces and don't give them the best equipment they need,if and WHEN the navy fails,we'll be screwed and we'll lose. On the topic of slugthrowers, they are cheaper and easier to produce, more easily modified and usually can use different ammo that can make it even more powerful than blasters.
